Hmmm, I may be barking up the wrong tree but what was the old Strong's rally EF8 from 3-4 years ago running? I think it was an F20C too. If I'm remembering correctly it used some kind of Rover hybrid box?

Disclaimer: I could be completely wrong, but it just rings a bell for some reason

Thats sweet how they've got the intake manifold on the front side, keeps the whole intake charge cold right into the engine.

Agree, pity its still FWD, but I don't know if the civic chassis is able to be fitted with RWD without major cutting and welding. Still, if you're going for the F20C, you'd feel obligated to go the extra 10 miles and make it RWD. Otherwise you may as well just K20A it.

Nice, but why stay fwd??

I seem to remember a thread a while ago with a red ek hatch complete with f20c and rwd. I'm sure the engine was sitting north/south

Or am I imagining things again?

edit: found the thread but the pics were down ops:

saw this posted up on s2ki, the general consensus is a k20 makes more sense in a civic than a f20 for several reasons like the k20 being more durable and having more potential

big ups for the guy having the balls and $,$$$ to do the swap even if its pointless to some degree, maybe he should have converted to rwd while he was at it, that would have made things interesting

Strongs had a F20C in a Del Sol mounted in the same way as the civic above. It ran a MG metro gearbox that had all sorts of crazy things done to it and use a pretty funky adapter plate. The gearbox was bloody weak and wasthe only real let down of the setup. The gearbox was also a real bitch to remove. Otherwise the setup worked fine. For rallying (what the Strongs Del Sol was used for) the K20A was a much better swap (which they put in a Fit). The K20A has a much more linar and smoother power delivery and doesnt require you to have your foot jammed up the engines ass keeping it super high in the rev range where it was breaking traction (Bad...). The K20A you of course could run Hondas 6 speed gearbox that was actually desigined to go with that engine so thats a bonus but the K20A box isint exactly a built proof item.

Ive worked on the F20C Del Sol and its a good car although it is a very very tight fit in the engine bay which makes gearbox removeal a bitch!! I wonder if the K20A box could be succesfully mated to the F20C and ran, but the K20A box did look bigger then the buggerised MG Metro one.

K20A is a far better option in a Civic or integra. Ive seen a 4 Door EK in the US that had a F20C powering the rear wheels

The MG metro gearbox is only a 4 spd? Sure it wasn't a Montego? Not surprised it was weak either way though!

The engine's in about the same position as a K20 sits in an EK. I believe some guys in the US have tried mating a K20 box to an F20C engine and the top two bolts don't line up or something.

But meh, K20 > F20C for aftermarket support.

If the F20C is anything like the K20A (which it is in some respects) the weight balance won't be much different to fitting a B18C.

that F20c is mounted about 50-100mm further forward than a K20 is... well at least the f20's inlet manifold is that much ruther forward....

one question i do ask though.........

WHY!!?!?!!?!?!!
