| Nice one... ...Whoever the guy with the CRX on Close-Up tonight was. What a *^(%&#$ egg. No wonder the public have a twisted view of the true car enthusiasts (to them, media buzzword and stereotype "Boy Racer"). Yes I know i'm flogging a dead horse, but this guy is just got on my nerves. "Yeah man, i've had it to 240". If you don't have anything intelligent to say (especially on telly) then shut the f**k up /End rant |

| Senior Member 8,000rpm (B Series Redline!) | I didnt see it but I would bet they interviewed a crap load of people and by the laws of deduction one would say something retarded. Then they go and air the most retarded comment of the lot. It's what happens when you have a bradcasting network run by government.

i've already told him that street racing is against all our beliefs as it ruins the image of not just NZH and RLT but the entire car enthusiasts scene. he was actually bragging about how his car was so fast and could do 240kph on the site so yeah i think he's a gimp. it only takes 1 person to ruin it for thousands or people :/ if you read this fatcrx i dont have beef with u and i dont care what you do as its your decision at the end of the day, you can act like an idiot to impress your friends but don't endanger our lives in the meantime. take it somewhere safe like meremere or pukekohe if you wanna prove that your car is fast. | |

Location: Westport | Meh. Unless it's live, i'd never EVER talk to the media about that sort of shit. They don't want to hear "I am car enthusiast, I drive at speed limits except for track days" they want to hear "Holy fuck im awesome, I drive at 400km/h 24/7! FUCK THE POLICE!" That's what sells TV. tjones - I fully beleive you that you got fucked on by Closeup, but you should have been more careful about what you said, and you should have signed some disclaimer saying you could see the finnished product before it went to air. Or something.

Location: Auckland | tjones. Looks as though you impressed no one but yourself. Top effort dude, in making yourself look like a wally on TV, and amongst your peers in the New Zealand car scene. I'm sure you are aware that we are all a bit peeved at the police and media attitude to us as a whole group rather than targetting the morons amongst us. Well with that in mind you score up another notch for the morons amongst us. Thanks. Who's side are you on?

| Senior Member 4,000rpm (Taxi Drag) | Well if people see me that way let them have there fun but, i mad a few great points and they did not air them, Yes i supose i let a few things out i should not have said by accident but in a situation like that you have no idea. And then they make it 2000% worse by putting suff back 2 front and it became nothing like i said. If you saw what they acctually filmed you may not think IM A TOSSER but from what i saw on tv i even think im a TOSSER No bad feeling keep it real guys |

| Senior Member 8,000rpm (B Series Redline!) | The fact you tried to do "240kph" on a public road makes you a twat regardless of what you did or didn't say to the media.

Location: Westport | There are ways around it. You should have said "The factory spec for my car is 220km/h - Compared to a Holden Commodore which can do over 250km/h" - Just shit like that. You still fucked up more than what you needed too, and no, there's nothing you can do about it, Closeup is not going to say "oh my god we got it all wrong!"

In October 2001 I was in my CRX (EF7) travelling from my house on the North Shore to the movies in Takapuna. It had been a rainy day and was still raining at 6pm. I went round a reasonably sharp corner on a suburban street and lost control of my vehicle. I hit a power pole and a bus stop. I wrote off my car, severely cut my arm when it went through the window, and suffered reasonable concussion (I still cannot remember the impact or hospital even 4 years later). This is what happens at 50km/h. I don't care that I wrote off my car. I don't care that I suffered physical injuries. None of that matters. What matters to me is the trauma that I put my ex-girlfriend through who was in the passenger seat. To this day I can still hear her screaming before the impact. Thankfully I've grown out of the speed thrills I used to enjoy, as you still do. All I can say is slow down mate. You're going to kill yourself, and even worse you're going to kill your mates.

Location: Tauranga | My last post was possibly a bit over board but it may be time for a bit of consideration dude. If you had crashed even if there was no one else involved you have to think of your family and friends and the cops etc that have to pick up the body/parts/slush (can't imagine there would be much left at 240km). There is always somebody affected when you speed and thats something you have to take seriously when you get behind the wheel. Driving is a privilage not a right, don't abuse it |
