***Nurburgring Grand Prix this weekend***

Straight into another race this weekend, keen to hear you predictions?
If its anything like last weekend it should be actioned packed

1st Michael Schumacher

2nd Jenson Button

3rd Kimi Raikkonen

Dont know how that will sit on the day but its one of Schumacher's Home tracks and although he suffered a Hydraulic problem I think Pit stratergy and efficentcy will get them through . Button can hopefully pull off 2nd, his car always seems reliable and quick however pit stops let him down. Kimi is quick at this track and if the car holds on he will be up there

Quote:
Between the two silver cars was Jenson Button’s BAR on 1m 29.618s and Ralf Schumacher’s Williams on 1m 29.677s. Renault’s Jarno Trulli (1m 29.919s) and Ferrari’s Rubens Barrichello (1m 29.943s) completed the drivers below 1m 30s.

Michael Schumacher, second fastest on 1m 29.631s this morning, was only ninth this afternoon as his Ferrari suffered an hydraulic problem. His best lap was 1m 30.227s.

Anthony Davidson, the hero of the morning session, conducted a different programme for BAR this afternoon and lapped seventh fastest in 1m 30.028s against his 1m 29.447s best previously.

Once again the times were very close. Behind Davidson came Fernando Alonso (1m 30.163s), Schumacher, Takuma Sato (1m 30.283s), Juan Pablo Montoya (1m 30.337s), Mark Webber (1m 30.466s), Olivier Panis (1m 30.497s), Cristiano da Matta (1m 30.531s), Ricardo Zonta (1m 30.949s) and Giancarlo Fisichella (1m 30.974s). Panis had a minor altercation with Bas Leinders which enlivened things, and several drivers had minor off-track adventures.

Christian Klien spun early in Turn 1 and had his Jaguar carried away by mobile crane; Felipe Massa spun in Turn 4, got Turn 1 wrong and ran wide, and then stopped in Turn 10 (almost exactly where Fisichella stopped this morning). The Brazilian’s problem was electronic, but the Italian lost an engine in his Sauber this morning and must thus lose 10 grid places tomorrow. Sato ran wide in Turn 2, Pantano spun in Turn 7 and later got Turn 1 wrong, Ralf Schumacher also went wide in Turn 1, as did Barrichello and da Matta. Michael Schumacher and Bjorn Wirdheim both missed their apex in the chicane.

After Davidson had set the initial pace he was supplanted in turn by Raikkonen and then Barrichello, then quick-fire succession saw Trulli, Coulthard and Raikkonen set the pace.

Behind the midfield bunch Jaguar third driver Bjorn Wirdheim did a 1m 31.780s, then Timo Glock was again the fastest Jordan driver with 1m 32.080s from Klien (1m 32.217s), Massa (1m 32.310s), Gianmaria Bruni (1m 32.643s) and Zsolt Baumgartner (1m 32.986s). Nick Heidfeld and Giorgio Pantano lapped in 1m 33.175s and 1m 33.393s respectively, and Leinders brought up the rear for Minardi with 1m 34.538s.

Teams were running to differing programmes this afternoon, the most crucial job being to sort out which tyres to choose for the rest of the weekend. Fuel loads also varied. Several people are therefore likely to find themselves in significantly different places tomorrow

I'll take odds on Kimi's engine lunching itself during the race - he's 4 out of 6 for explosions so far! I'll also take odds on Takuma Sato retiring - not that I want to, I've followed BAR since I knew they were Honda powered (since several years ago).

Eddie Jordan announces he is pleased to sign a deal with Ford after Honda decided only one team would be Honda powered, and lo and behold, they drop right to the back of the pack. Ooops...

Anyway, my predictions...

1. M. Schumacher
2. J. Trulli
3. J. Button
4. F. Alonso
5. R. Barrichello
6. T. Sato (if he finishes)
7. J. P. Montoya
8. K. Raikkonen (if he finishes)

Sato will smoke M.Sch off the line then blow up again 5 laps in... M.Sch will be blinded by the smoke and hit a wall. Button, Trulli and Kimmi will get through and finish in that order

Good Race IMO.

SATO was stupid to try and pass Ruberns Ferrari in Turn one with 14 laps left. He had plenty of time to get past before the end of the race but his in experiance showed as he dashed up the inside. Though he did do that stupid move he was the most exciting driver out there. The reason for his engine blowing up puzzeled me again but the comintators did mention that the Hondas don't like sitting in the pits and he had one more stop than what was planned.

BUTTON again showed reliability and consistance and is on target to hopefully finish 3rd or 2nd this year. Shame he didn't have much more pace though he could have maybe grabbed 2nd.

All in All a good Race would have liked a Ferrari 1st, 2nd and Honda 3rd, 4th but maybe next time

Bring on Canada 8)
