Location: Otaki | Car Day Lower Hutt in March! Hey this looks awesome. Word is that they may link to the drags at Paraparaumu Airport on the Sunday. Who sez there's nothing to do? http://fastcars.net.nz/

Location: Otaki | Yep will get more info on here shortly. It's on the Sunday (next day) after the Lower Hutt one, a joint local police/road safety venture with car show, displays etc. Came out of a "boyracer information day" we held with the Police when the Bill came out last year and it's a good event. BTW agree with the rap for Hutt Council, they really are pro-active on this issue.

Location: Otaki | *UPDATE* The drags are confirmed at the Pram Airport on Sunday 14 March, more details when the Road Safety Coordinator gets back next week. We have talked to the Hutt guys and they will be sending some of the vehicles up after their show. BTW they asked to keep checking their site, like all these events things can snowball!

Location: Otaki | *UPDATE* For safety reasons the Paraparaumu Airport people won't allow side-by-side drags, so it will be timed sprints with timing gear, register on the day. The're's a humungous brake testing machine coming down from Aucks for free brake tests.

Location: Otaki | LMAO, nah Saturday/Sunday. Yeah they are involved, I'm aware of the Thursday thing, both our kids have copped that, and don't think the cops should be hassling there either seeing as Hutt Council allow it. All I can say is the last day like this they promised to stay cool unless someone went stupid and they kept to that, guess the same applies. To be fair, there was a lot of good dialogue both ways, it's not perfect but ya gotta start somewhere.

If you get any more details on things such as cost, noise restrictions, vehicle standards, etc. - can you post them please? Cheers ![]() | |

| Just guessing here....... but if the boys in blue are going to be there, I'd say your car would pretty much have to be totally street legal.

Location: Otaki | Yeah, it's more a street info day. I wouldn't arrive with no springs for example, can only say the last 2 times they were pretty casual and they actually seemed to enjoy it. Some of these guys were very high up cops too. One drongo lit up as he was leaving, a local cop says "I know who it is, I'll have words with him"! Fairly sure he did too. Will keep posting as I get more info.

| I think the Police should be invited to run their cars to see what they're capable of ![]() It'd a be a cool way to interact on the day in a non-confrontational (they don't have to race anyone) way. |

Location: Otaki | Yep worth suggesting. Last year they brought up a late model Mitsi VR turbo and spent the day flogging it up and down the airport using the radar gun! Wouldn't let any of us drive it tho'.

| :?: Didn't the police have the Evo 8 at the last one? I remember seeing an article about a similar style day. I think it was a red evo 8 and was 1 of about 3 in the country at that stage??

Location: Otaki | You're so right, it was an EVO 8, should change my name to Al Zeimer. It was apparently stolen, insurance paid out, then recovered when the guy tried to sell it for $200! People got suspicious I guess. ![]() The Airport is easy, turn left at the lights on SH1, halfway up Kapiti Road. Just past the Shell gas station.
