HUGE insurance problem - help me!

i know this topics prob been covered alot but I havent found anything usefull. I just rung my insurance company to talk to them about alarms and somehow got onto the topic of modifications. It seems that I cant make ANY modifications to my car except tinting the windows or they will cancel my insurance!!
Does anyone know of a good insurance company that will insure me when I modify my car or will I have to just go without insurance?
Im an under 25 female and I own a 93 civic SiR. Im insured with BNZ bank (which is IAG or something) and Ive been turned down by ami who I used to have insurance with.
Can someone please help me!

Best you can do is shop around.
Unfortunately, if you want to modify, you may be looking at NAC or Inbroke as your only options
Ring an insurance broker, make them do the running around for you.

I'm with BNZ and do my insurance through them9The PremierBatch part of State Insurance or something). I'm 24yo male with a '93 VTI-R integra in Auckland(about the worst combination except my no claim history)so if I got insurance through them you surely can. For my mags they just asked if I had locknuts. For the stereo they just asked if the head unit was under $1,000(Didn't say anything about the rest of the stereo, have to take your chance with that!) and said it had a different exhaust and pod filter but was all legal and they didn't care. How was I suppsoed to know it had Type R cams etc!!!

When I got insurance the car was standard though and I added those things afterwards. Didn't change premiums/excess etc.

insurance was quite easy for me to get... suprisingly

i am 19 male, i have been suspended before. i insured my ITR under my name.
stated it was a "performance car" with exhaust, extractors and a few other things.

and it only costs $650 for full cover, but i think the reason is because it is insured with the rest of the family things through a broker.

Insure Direct is Inbroke
Did you find out the theft excess? That's the clincher
Who did you speak to?

Can't say I know of how they handle claims - but I've partied with the owner a few times, and the CS crew are all good friends of mine.
Pretty honest bunch really

I have said it mannnny times ... never call them, go and see them in person !! If you are responicible and mature and all that mumbo you should have far greater chance of getting some love from them.

Thats really weird, I'm insured for my Galant (and I used to have the Mini as well) with them. They said to me that I could have up to 3g's worth of mods to the car before they would not insure me, and if I put a stereo in without alarming and immobilising the car, if it was stolen the theft only excess would be the value of the stereo. With an approved alarm/immobiliser they would quite happily keep my excess at the same level as it is currently ( $750 ).

It is a 1994 Galant tho (not a Vr-4) so that could be the difference.

Although they did insure the Mini with over 4g's worth of engine and a roll-cage.

If you really cannot get insurance you are almost guaranteed to get it through the National Auto Club, just be sitting down when you find out how much it is going to cost you. :!:

Man i reckon it depends who you strike aye
Iv never had problems insuring... although i go thru a broker and its along with family car and shit...
Mags are insured seperately... and the only thing is, the car had to be taken for me to get money for them.. Mags get niked outside the house.. sucks to be me..

Take that guys (sorry fogot screeneame) advice.. GO and talk to them.. ringing makes it easier for them to say NO and hang up

Yeah go into the office! thats what i did. They just want to see a mature young adult. I got full cover on a 96 ITR for around 700 and i'm 19!! so if i can get it so can you! Just pleed with them saying your not going to do anything stupid. They are in the business to make money, so show them you will make them money, not cost them. just my 2 cents

most insurance companies have a NO ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE enhancements clause on their policies and they all have niche markets but unfortunately only (to my knowledge) NZ autocar club will readily ensure young people.... good luck, personally id ring around a few brokers

i had a standard civic insured with ami then i got the teg
so i went in and saw them and they were sweet, i think it depends oon the area, and the mood of the branch manager :p

i have- exhaust, 17's, stereo, lowered (thats the one they didnt really wanna go on till i begged them :p), intake chip. and also i have a DIC to my name (dont hold it against me) and im 18

so AMI _CAN_ be sweet i think you just need a bit of history with them, and GO IN AND SEE THEM.
