Faster in a straight line or faster around a course?

Would say about the same in a straight line. Accord might have a bit of an advantage.

However, the Type R is a tight car, so it's got a lot of off the shelve bolt on mods for it.

ITR would be faster off the mark for sure, would leave the Accord for dead on a racetrack too 8)

Theres someone who has posted in this thread who used to have an accord that did 14sbut still not fast enough to beat an ITR

SiR_Accord31 you may want to remove the mention of street racing cause Im sure you meant on a track

once rolling the motorway etc the accord would hold its own.
As an all round pacakge the ITR is far and above the better choice.

As far as racing on the road, neither of them would be any good would they.

imho, the accord is a better buy if you dont plan on going racing a lot. it is more comfortable, roomier, heavier so it rides the bumps better, and has more torque, so more power for your average around town situation. the typer has more power for circuit racing, and handles far better (altho still WWD, so not too good)

if you wanna pull a lot of pussy and have all your mates say " yeah hes mad phat y0! he got a typer" then get the r, altho for your situation you are better to get a dc non vtec integra and just tell all your mates its a type r, they will probably believe you.

I would have thought an ITR would open a can on a CD6.

I even think normal DC2 would open a can on a CD6.

Theres only 10hp more and a shit load more weight... the torque would be the only thing the CD would have on it's side wouldnt it?

yes. that is true. but torque is very important, for e.g. in daily drivg the accord would be just as fast. the 1/4 mile is not representative of normal driving as not everyone takes there car to redline with every shift.
another factor is that most itr's have had there balls ripped off, and so the engines are nt in as good nick as the majority of accord's hence accords being copetitive.
