Just thought I'd let you know that you are getting hit by spambots, lots of new members all based in Akaroa with random names and web pages linked to porn.

Akaroa? Any info on who's doing it, I'm getting hit hard by local (New Zealand) addresses when it used to be USA or Russia.

Also anyone know a way to block sites by individual countries on PHPBB?

They're not from Akaroa, it's just the "Default Location" - Normally the spambots would fill out a field when submitting it, but they can't because we've custom hacked it, so that's what it ends up as. They're coming from stupid places.

Go to Administration Panel > User Admin > Ban Control > Ban one or more IP addresses or hostnames > *.countrycode - ie, *.ro for romania. This only works if the host they are spamming from resolves properly.

The main ones my board gets hit by are from Russia, Romania and Italy. I have about 4 mods in place + admin activated accounts just to cut down the number of dud accounts.

All you really need is the Cachapa addon from the latest phpBB2. I just haven't copied it across to this theme.
