| Member 700rpm (Idle) | Why is it so bad to ask who drive this car. Seems a bit stupid to me its a way to catch up with cars youve seen thought that it looked good, find out some info etc. Makes no sence to me especially when its in nz hondas. I think you guys should let some things go a bit more. Jeez I know when i saw fevahs car i asked on here whos it was found out some useful information and made a good mate aswell. Basically its a stupid rule and id like to know why you inforce it with such a passion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Location: Auckland | http://www.nzhondas.co.nz/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4702 Read it. We enforced the rule because a number of people came to us and explained their concerns with people trying to find out owners of differnet cars. Hypothetical situation: John Hoboken owns a very nice car. He drives it around town, flossin' his stuff, and pickin' up hunnies. Some guy goes "Hey, that's a pretty fly ride, I wonder who owns that?" The guy then asks "hey, I spotted a nice ride in town, who drives that?" Some other guy then says "oh, that's John H, he's a mate of mine, yeah, did that car have the plate XX1234?" Anonymous person X finds thread. Looks up "hoboken" or the l/plate, with relating address. Anonymouse person X then goes and rips off John Hoboken. John Hoboken is pissed, then finds out, somehow, that the information was leaked through NZH. NZHondas.com goes offline due to negligence suit. Yes, we do understand, a lot of the time, it's done merely out of curiousity, but we've had too many requests from Honda owners to allow it. We're not prepared to take the risks. If the owners want to be identified, they can do it themselves. Sorry man. Moved: Suggestions/Feedback |

| Member 700rpm (Idle) | Well then maybe couldnt you add a field to profle that adds what type of car you drive etc, so you can search the members list, maybe a section for mods done. Fully optional so people worried about theft or what ever dont need to fill it in. Makes things easier and people can get information with out the use of posting pointless topics ie who owns a da6 who owns a civic. Who did this and what did it do, |

| Senior Member 4,000rpm (Taxi Drag) | Like my avatar is my car there fore its my buisness if i put up a pic of it or not. if people see me driving, they see a nzhondas sticker, they are looking through the website and they see my avatar, then they can ask q's straight to me, rather than a conspiracy behind my back.. right Frank?? |

How does having this field stop people from asking who owns the fly bright yellow ride in town last night, if the owner of that car doesnt have his cars information in his profile? | |

Basically, if you care that much about someone else's ride that you want to 'track them down' to find out wat other mods or wateva they have, u should just talk to them next time you see them, instead of starting a hunt, and talking about them behind their back, if you will. I like the idea that you can keep ur car private in that respect. I cant say I'd really like a thread satrted on me, as in, "yeah i think he lives over here, and works there, and teh car has this, and Ive seen that" Just the idea of it.

| why not just have exceptions.......eg. who was the guy that pulled up next to me last night??mean car. Like wouldnt it be ok if you could just ask that??i mean its not acceptable to say 'where does the guy in the black civic live' I recon we just need some allowances, but hey its up to the admin |

| Member 700rpm (Idle) | How specifically can you do that when you see them driving away if your at a petrol station or something or there at the lights and you see them, but you do notice a nzhondas sticker, so you know there a member here so to catch up with the you ask who has the blah blah, then you can catch up with them, And whats so bad about knowing who owns what car its not like you know there address or real name just keep it to handles thats what there there for, for example I know fierces car, i also know cements car pharnos's the list goes on but dont know there real names tho or where the heck they live. Its the same fucking thing as me know who owns the blah blah car the lives in welly oh its so and so, ohh ok so now i know his handle i can pm him for more details. I mean you go to fricken meets and see cars ask some one whos it that im sure they will tell you oh thats jow bloggs. Sweet now its Easy for me to steal. Talk about fucing paraniod. |

| Team NZH: Retired 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | Unlike a meet, the internet is an uncontrolled environment, and car sites can quickly become a shopping list for thieves... Sure, someone can see a nice car in town, and check out the rego... only costs $2(I think?) at the postshop to get the owners details, nothing will ever stop that... What's trying to be stopped here, are things like when someone posts :- <person a>'hey whos car is [xxxxxx]? its mint' <person b>'yeah.. its got about $10k of mods under the bonnet..' <person c>'did you see that he bought a new hondata last week? $2k man!' 'The net makes the world a smaller place', has this phrase never passed by you before? The same concept goes for cars.. people may never see these cars in person, meaning they never get the chance to see that rego.... If you really are that desperate to find out who someone is, I'm sure if you PM'd one of the more Regional Moderators/Directors within NZH politely asking, they will be able to pass your query onto the owner involved...

| Senior Member 700rpm (Idle) | I see no problem with the rule Sure if u want to find the owner of a nice car that was in town, its one way to do it sure. But if someone other than the owner )or the owner) posts a message sayin ohh dats %^&&* with the play SICK of sumthing.. ppl can then get records of the car and track it down. Has been done before and will be done again im sure. Im sure some of teh owners dont want people knowing that the have a full audio system and all that, makes it a target. |
