Larger Search Button

It has come to my attention that many users aren't using the search function of this site. There must be about A FRICKEN MILLION posts about how much it is to get your car turboed and how much it is to do an engine swap. AND NO (for those who keep asking where they can get one) THERE ARE HARDLY ANY B18C's IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!

Can I perhaps suggest to Frank, Simon and others that the search button be made larger and perhaps placed in a more obvious location. It is a little camoflaged up there near the top. Perhaps using the same graphics as "new post" or that kind of thing. Might save some hassles for you guys and might make it more obvious to new members etc.

Thanks, Adam

Ummm...don't you think that is going a bit overboard.
I thought NZHonda was suppose to be a helpful community, it looks like you guys are turning into Honda-tech where all the post are flaming each other for reposting.

The whole idea of what I just posted was to help people. By having a bigger search button people are more likely to see it, more likely to use it and then less likely to post the exact same thing that a million other people have. It just annoys everybody when you read the exact same thing over and over, people have to explain and write stuff over and over. Much easier to use the search function. Takes a few minutes longer then just making a new topic and you will probably find out more as there is a lot more information on all previous posts on a topic then there will be from peopel replying to your post.

You are right this a community of people all helping each other. You are going to find more help by using the search function and finding more info.

Everybody sais this site is too strict. Well it has to be cause there are soooo many idiots who don't follow simple rules/conditions. It is pathetic really. Why is it so hard to read a few rules and save yourself and the moderators the trouble. AMG is good example of sensible users, floolwing rules. When was the last time you saw a locked post on AMG??

I think its more peoples ignorance than not actually seeing the search function...

They want their own topic, not to look at someone elses.

Buzz, how would you feel to be one of the more senior members here, and to know alot about what youre doing. Lets just create that scenario for a few mins. Think about it, you suddenly know alot more than you know now (just for a few mins).

You see some guy come in, and ask about turboing a b18c, so you helpfully reply, well done. 2 weeks later, you see another person come in and ask about turboing a b18c. Now, if you can be bothered, you will reply again, or you will reference this person to the other thread that you replied in, thus YOU having to use the search function, or take a few seconds to visually find the thread. 2 months later, another person asks how to turbo a b18c.. Are you going to be happy wasting your time finding the answer to his question, that you have already answered twice to ths point, or are you going to get sick of it, and tell them to use the search function?

Just something to think about...

i know some are ignorant, but i dont think u guys should "burn" them, if they are first time posters. And they are usually first timers isnt it?
its better to just tell them to use the search funtion as they wont feel insulted. but i agree with the search button thing

That's cool, but all posters are supposed to read the Forum rules in the "Announcements" Forums before posting... this is supposed to lay clear outlines so it does not annoy current members, or whatnot. If all noobs took the time to read the rules before posting, I'm sure life would be easier for all of us.

Remember that a lot of the times, we speak up for people who PM us. Hence, we, as Moderators are always put in the spotlight as being "assholes" when we are merely speaking for others who are not willing or wanting to do so.

That is true about the whole n00b thing but it clearly says on the front page in bold, Read me before posting anywhere or words to that effect. Inside that bit is clearly stats that "Subjects which have already been discussed numerous times (please Search first, as these topics are locked on sight)"
