anyway point is the oil light should be a fine warning, but as soon as you see it, do something about it, not like me.... the one time it took just under 4 litres to get it back on the dipstick... wonder how much londer the motor will last

The factory light does come on at about 5psi and below, if you want to run high rpm and be sitting on 10psi of oil pressure without knowing that is fine, but not for me. Clogged oil pick up, lazy oil pump easily could have you doing the above. I could go on and on as to why I think a good oil pressure gauge is important but can't be fugged. ![]() | |

| Senior Member 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | Re: What gauges? agreed but high rpm and turbo dont exactly go hand in hand on most applications, i know my oil pump is fresh and couldnt imagine what would be in my oil to clog up feeds, if your engine is more on the tired side a pressure gauge would be prefered but because i know everything in my motor is fresh i have a boost gauge and a water temp.. thats it. if you wanted to be entirely pedantic there are a whole series of gauges you could run.. |

By high RPM I am talking anything over 5k, with low oil pressure it wont last long in a highly stressed enviroment. Its a funny debate this when you consider you have an actual water temp gauge from the factory, but as we all know there shit! Yet people see the oil pressure warning light as being sufficient ![]() Ah each to there own  |

| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | Re: What gauges? I would go with Boost and Oil Pressure as the main ones and then Oil Temp and Water temp as the secondary. I dont know about other people but Id like to know if there is a problem with the pressure before it gets to 5psi or if there is a fluctuation in pressure say its dropping 10psi for some reason - but not low enough for the light to come on. In my cars, I always first fit an Oil Pressure guage, then water then oil temp. Its just a piece of mind to know at the first instance of a potentually "deadly" problem. I dont trust the warning light alone, nor do I trust the stock water temp guages, heck sometimes I dont even trust the fuel guage. Each to their own tho
