| Senior Member 700rpm (Idle) | Hey Guys, Just after some techo knowledge... I've run out of room to put an External wastegate on my EF3 The factory internal wastegate on the TD05h is all welded shut. >> Question: Do I have to have a Wastegate at all??? >> What will happen if i weld up my external port and just run the car without a wastegate??? >>> Will it still boost???

There must be room for the wastegate, you can have it coming off pretty much anywhere between the head and turbo exhaust housing, some people have even modified the turbo exhaust housing to have the gate coming off it. Post some pics, im sure theres a way to do it.

Hey let us know when the big day is so we can all come and watch lol ![]() Not only will your car be faster, it will be a bit lighter too without the extra weight of the wastegate setup. Now on a more serious note you could always go and buy a blown Td05 and use the exhaust housing off that otherwise ud better take out life insurance!! |

If you want to arrange a swap you could use my housing which would allow you to use the internal wastegate. PM me if interested.

![]() Just thought I might take the tim to explain it a bit better rather than 15 people saying its stupid. The wastegate controls the speed of the turbo charger, to prevent it either damaging itself, or producing too much boost and adamaging your engine. If you run without one it will just produce the most boost it is capable of which your engine will probably (definately) not be capable of handling unless its built VERY tuff. I suggest you take colza up on his offer above, an internal wastegate doesn't take up much room and does a good job at controlling boost etc. | |
