Manual or digital Boost controllers

Hi guys,

In your opinions what are the rises and falls of having one (or the other)??

Im leaning towards manual dual stage as the setups are under bonnet which gives you two presets and a rocker switch inside... (less room for tampering and blowing something)

Although friends are pushing me towards the more expensive profec b2 but does that have a dual stage flick switch setting as well?? or is that mainly run off the controller box?

Cheers
Russ

AVC-R definitely ftw. Two boost presets, and the option to turn it off, as well as adjustable "gain" per gear or even adjustable boost/duty cycle for rpm - and even a "scramble boost" button option to raise boost a bit more at the push of a trigger. The whole config can be done for the two different boost presets.

thats the thing.. would i wanna be shoving my hand thru the steering wheel or trying to find a button next to bright lights near a stereo system for a hi low setting though..

(places i would think of putting both setups).. if a digital one ran a flick switch separate to the controller itself it would be helpful..

Yup I agree, I use the profec b spec2 aswell, havent regreted it at all, and you can get a toggle switch wired into them if you like the hole toggle switch idea.

i run a manual turbosmart tap and it works great considering it was only 50 dollars, holds boost well..but on cold nights it spikes a fair bit.. if theres a choice, id definately have gone with an ebc of some kind!

cheers.. thats what i was worried about.. manual controllers spiking.. although fair dinkum, some setups are pretty sound.. (i.e closed atmosphere setups)..

i looked up the profec b2 and they do have the steering wheel remote button..
anyone able to help find one for me in aucks?? lol

I might go the profec way.. wiring it up will be the mission i guess but with every gain is a lil hard work.

The thing is with most manual boost controllers, if theyre not a ball and spring type, is they take alot longer to build boost.. Reason being they allow pressure to constantly push the actuator open, whereas an electronic one will keep all pressure away till the last moment, then give full pressure which opens the actuator/gate allwoing for far less spool time or lag.

Side note, anyone tried one of these ; http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-145169630.htm

; same as this

*I was at work before and was unable to download or view pdfs..

home now and downloaded one.. freaking simple as.
Only thing is setup of the controller.
Still a chance for spiking to occur but it would be user error if done.
mmm interesting.

Thanks

ST-Hitec have the Profec b's in stock. Simple to install and set up.
I wouldn't rave about mine as it is a little temperamental about how laggy it wants to be at times, changes without any reason.
I wouldn't mind getting the remote switch does it work everytime you push it?

What's been the deciding factor for you to get a profec b? Reading this it seems that the ease of wiring did it for you?

Not much in it price wise between a avcr and profec B...

Ive got both an original Profec B, and HKS EVC 5.

Profec is far easier to install (power/ground + pressure line) and setup (dial in low, dial in high), and only cost $250 from tardme
