Not much in it price wise between a avcr and profec B...
My profec b was about $500 new, I think the avcr's are a close to $700 aren't they? I also hear they are hard to setup properly but have no experience myself with them.

The ROI is much greater though IMO.

I use a HKS EVC 5. It's got 2 boost settings, and a 'scramble mode' which you can activate from either the display or get another momentary switch to trigger it. Was easy as to setup also.

Profec e-01 ftw. You get a blingy LCD screen with it, and it can show basically any of the sensors that your ECU monitors with an additonal loom.

If your looking to blow $500 - $700 on an EBC just be done with it and get an S300 Hondata then you have all the functions of any boost controller available. boost in gear, dual boost settings, switchable high/low, cold/hot, boost to rpm blah blah blah.

you also need to get a solenoid to run with the Hondata though

But - yeah - Hondata got all the functions and more.

Crome does all that built in now too with the gold rom. Just need a solenoid, same as the S300.

Whatever you do, DO NOT get a manual one. All they do is spike, they dont hold boost..useless POS means i hit boost cut in 2nd,3rd, 4th at night with abit of throttle. so annoying, just removed it, will get an ebc!

This depends on alot of variables.

I now have a electronic boost controller, but before that used a ball&spring controller, which was awesome. Reduced lag a shitload from just using the standard actuator with nothing in between, and held boost everytime. Its called a turbotech boost controller on ebay.. Wicked little unit.

wonder why mine was so useless then.. would length of tubing between actuator, bloost controller unit and turbo have an effect? anyone? I had a turbosmart one, was supposed to work well but was useless on cold nights

Because it would have been a bleed valve, not ball and spring. Ball and spring basically presets the spring to a certain presure, then opens up once enough boost pressure is pushing against it, very similar to a electronic one.

Ive got a manual boost tap in my car, its a brand new racepro jobby, ball and spring setup, ive got my boost set to 0.9bar which is a tad over 13psi, holds boost steady all day long, but havent driven it on a really cold night to see if it spikes a or not.

came with car so meh, does a decent job

That jaycar one looks pretty good for the price, just like their mis firing systems... when theres people who pay like $350+ for the Bee*r equivilent which does the same thing

funny thing i was just on the hondata site reading up on this, has anyone used this system in NZ yet? was just wondering what solenoid they used as the hondata site only supports the motec and GM solenoid.

or can you use any brands solenoid with this system???

the boost by gear would help fwd cars i would think

In crome it sends out a pwm signal on any one of about a dozen pins you can choose. I don't have time to read the manual to give you a more accurate description. It also does gear dependant boost etc. Hondata and Crome do the same thing far as I can tell.

You mean that the boost isn't being regulated how he has setup the controller so it's spiking and hitting the ecu boost cut? Sounds like he hasn't set it up right?

in crome you need to do a bit of pissing around to set it up, I haven't tried it but there are many generic boost soleniods you can use.

an electronic boost controller cannot work without a soleniod of course
