yeah smashed a cv to bits. the things started axle tramping a lot since we put in the b18c. need to make some more traction bars before it goes back to the track.

can someone please explain why we need to do anything with the pcv valve?

i was under the impression that as long as we had more ventilation out the rocker cover we would be sweet.

but this is my first turbo build so im not sure.

you can take the black box off the back of the motor, block up the hole on the IM that the PCV hose goes to, then block off the PCV hole in the back of the motor, just get someone to make up a alloy plug on the lathe.

The why is because under boost the system gets pressurized which ends up spitting excess oil into your inlet, It's a bunk setup anyway, ditch it.

Line's off the cam cover is good, no doubt but fixing the pcv > lines off VC. High boost = do both but do the pcv first.

The H-T thread thats linked in the sticky

EDIT: There's other options though, Since I had my VC painted before I could get fittings on it Ill be running one of these Much better/cleaner than the lines off the VC (IMO)

i did this on mine, but found that it was pumping too musch oil into catch can under constant boost, i switched back to the black box with two fitting on the top then to catch can, its not pumping any oil now, the black box allows for the oil to retun back and just water/vapur to travel up the catch can

that sounds a lot easier. basically all you want to do is keep the pressure out of the black box. does the line coming off that spit out much oil or will i be able to get away with putting one of those little air filters on it.

yeah we figured that the kit is so cheap, even if the turbo blows up in 6 months its still a bargain. then just go and get a genuine mitsubishi one that will last for ages and its still a cheap setup.

u will need to run the line off the black box to a catch can, and one off the rocker cover to the can too, japrace sell manz app 2ltr cans pretty cheap, its what im using.
pull the black box off and put a decent sized fittin on it so u can run a good sized hose off it, bigger is better

Solidly documented thread, and man, I wish I had an aircraft hanger plus all the associated tools that came with it at my disposal for projects!

yeah thats works ^^ specially on a setup like this. if your rocker cover breather is filling catch cans the hoses probably arent welded to the rocker cover where the baffle plate is

loving the documented build, great work.

Cool how you worked things out along the way too, all of what you have written others have found out also. However you figured everything out in 48 hours.

Top work!

A simple reason for the hole PCV thing:
PCV is a mint setup for N/A it applies vacume to the bottom end to reduce the windage losses of the crank.

Turbo: the line from the PCV goes to the intake manifold. This line also connects to the crank case.
Think what happens when the intake manifold sees boost

Im sure you can work the rest out (i.e boosted crank case, rattling pistons, scuffing walls etc)

yeh internet is good like that 8)
Interested to see how it goes, 200wkw shouldn't be too much of an ask provided everything else is well setup.
