The main concern I've read about is they can cause hot-spots in the liners up the top around the combustion chambers and in-concentric bores.

I call bollocks on that though, I know with mine it mounts far enough down into the water jacket that it's well away form the combustion chambers and completely surrounded with water above and below.
and if properly installed there is no pressure on the liners which could cause them to go out of round.

There may be cheapy ones around that dont fit properly but my KMS engine delelopments one was an absalute perfect fit.

I am skeptical that they can infact stop the bores wandering around and or cracking because I figure if they are going to be wandering around that much then thats going to be the least of your worries.

I put mine in because I figured it would do more good than harm and my tooth pick d-series bottom end will need all the help it can get.
