Question Carbon fiber cover for J's air duct

Hi guys,

My car (dc2R) is soon to be fitted with a J's racing style air duct, when I go for my panel and paint in the next 2-3 weeks.

I am running a AEM intake system, which runs down into the R/H side front guard, sort of under the abs unit.

Now, I'm looking at options for a removable cover for this air duct, or a place where I could get one made up.

I know this sounds like I'm pissing into the wind here, I.E. why put an air duct in if your just going to get a replaceable cover to cover it up again, but I don't like the idea of my front bumper being open 24/7 and driving in the rain/driving through mad puddles where half the road gets taken up and one is forced to drive through it.

Even though, the chance of it happening is slim, hydro-lock scares me like the plague.

Or even having it open on a dusty as road while following someone, I don't really want that shit being sucked up my intake (I know this is what the pod is for, but regardless it is in a awkward position down there, so the cleaner I can keep it the better, right?)

So if anyone has any good suggestions or places they could recommend, that would be a huge help to me.

I was also thinking maybe If I get a carbon fiber cover, it would give it a nicer JDM look.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Keaton

PM MarkE on these forums. He makes the ducts so might be able to make a cover.

You shouldnt have a problem with water. Have raced in the rain many times, and lots of our cars have open air boxes straight to the outside.

Otherwise there are plently of people who could make something for you. Of you could get some plastic sheet, and a heat gun and wrap the plastic around the duct. Or..........buy a big cork!

Yeah true that.

I have heard they are water resistant etc etc, but my main concern is puddles and keeping it clean.

Or am being a pansy?

Cheers

Well i wouldnt go driving though a puddle that is going to submerge your front of your car where it is up to that inlet, but i think as far as surface water, and rain go you will be fine.

your being a pansy haha, no one has reported any problems with them yet, and ive run a similar system in my old ef9 in the wind and rain with no problems. I think your being a little OTT... aslong as your not up the arse of the car infront when in the rain, and dont drive through puddles deeper than the duct im suure itd be fine bro!

Re: Carbon fiber cover for J's air duct

I have a J's Duct with piping running up to the filter, even after a drive in the rain or on a dusty road there is hardly anything on the inside up the piping (water/dust residue)

So you should be sweet as
