Re: Civic panel and paint

Was $6k to fix the front of my EK Around a third of that must have been paint.

At the end of the day, businesses must charge what covers their cost and makes it worthwhile for them. If not enough is charged, not enough time gets dedicated, and the result is substandard. Nobody wins.

If you're not happy about the cost, find someone cheaper. Don't bitch that everyone else is too "dear".

I'll admit I got a $400 paint job on another car once... How long did it last? Don't know, it sold a week later

Re: Civic panel and paint

My EF9 cost $1800 to paint in a simple black basecoat with 2 coats of clear. Sounds cheap but that was including me spending a solid 6 days on it including stripping, prepping and piecing it back together.
I have the utmost respect for car painters and totally understand why they charge what would seem to be outlandish prices. Next time we have one of our trucks painted I'll try and grab a copy of the invoice, I think the last one we had done was $5k Cab only so I can only imagine what a whole unit costs to paint.

Re: Civic panel and paint

if someone came to me and they had had a shit job done on there car already i would be charging them a few extra grand to remove all the low quality paint that has been put on there by the $500 job. it ends up being alot more work fixing someone elses mistake than its reaslly worth

Re: Civic panel and paint

i would second that.... i worked on a car that had a cheap paint job, had to rip it all off(including the paint they put over the stickers WTF)
if you want a paint job, and want to keep the car, bit the bullet, fork out a litlle bit more, and you will be happy with the results, i promise you!!!
