Timing @ Taupo

When I was at Taupo last I saw waht looks like a lap timing box near the start/finish line.. is that waht it is? Little black box. If so, is it possible to utilise that for my car for timing or do you have to have some special products to do it?

For example, there are many lap timers out there, but would they talk to the box?

Re: Timing @ Taupo

that box would be the timing box for the MANZ events and its owned by a private organisation that is separate from the tack itself, and they are contracted to do the timing, so no you wouldnt be able to talk to it.. you could get one of the kart timers and set the transponder ontop of it so you can get personal timing but yeah other than that no they wont talk to the box
