I think they are made by KAAZ, I'm pretty sure it's the same design they have been building for years. They work the same as a cusco.

Vtec_junky is using one! Be good to hear his opinion. The recommended fluids from J's are Oberon which is not hard to get. I think we tried to nut out a local similar product. Now that we've got them sitting here we can also take measurements which was another hurdle but I am sure he'll chime in. And yes made by Kaaz, a very pleasant surprise!

That's what Robin's is like, lots of banging and crashing

Great pull thru the corners once you get going though

ATS owns all. i know quaife ones are very streetable and im wondering if the KAAZ units lean more toward that end of the spectrum rather than the all-out clunk clunk bang of the ATS/

qauife diffs are torsen type geared diffs, ats and kaaz cusco etc are all plate type, way diff... the torsen type diffs work on gears inside, and if preloaded correctly will not clunk etc, but they are no where near as good a clutch pack diff, they dont lock up as well, an both axels need to have a torque input into the diff, if on wheel spins up or is in the air, the diff will not bind up, so once it spinning, you have to wait till they both have traction and then go again...

the clutch pack lock no matter what... sure theres a trade off in drivability but if its a tarc car then who care about of abit of noise and clunking, you wont get a diff that lock up better than a clutch pack diff

for most of the aftermarket diff . .

if u run Honda MTF . . . it wont last Long . . . .

Best thing to run will e motul but if u r a budget Total or Elf will do the job

and if they are carbon material . . prepare to learn the 30min box out and in excerise . .

Having a 1.5way lsd is essential to drive around corners without losing control at high speeds

and yes very noisy at low speeds but it indicates that it doesnt have the right fluid in the diff thats why it makes the noise it needs the special oil to get lubricated. For Honda FWD you need to change the gearbox oil because the lsd is inside the transmission thats my 2cents

Re: J;s racing 1.5way plate diff.. anyone using one??

I run motul gear FF type 2
75/90

tried total oil and its utter shit, makes the syncro's grind worse on the track once up to temp. (and cold they grind bad) and the LSD is EXTRA clunky,
i think cause its a 80/90 oil and is like $40 for 4-5L

vs motul at $50L i think it is? or maybe its $50 for 2L?

I used this on my old Ek9 which had a cusco 1.5 way lsd, i bought 4 L for $140.00 Motul is awesome shit, feels much smoother.

I am running a ATS carbon diff and have for some time, no need to change out yet (touch wood).
Mine is super quite compared to others I have heard. I only get a little bit of chatter with very slow sharp U type turns.
Was awesome on the track really pulled me round corners

I am running total oil, synchos are just getting a bit chunking going into 5th and reverse but not that bad, might have something to do with the amount of torgue I am running though (as well)

Re: J;s racing 1.5way plate diff.. anyone using one??

That rebuild time would have HEAPS to do with the oils the trans is running.

Wrong oil wears them out like a bitch.

You are supposed to run ATS oil in them, but no one is N.Z brings it in.
If you know racers you may get motul wholesale for around $90 for 3L

Re: J;s racing 1.5way plate diff.. anyone using one??

i do have the j's diff, and i really like it, its a bit clunky, but that was only during the bed-in period and once a changed the gearbox oil for new stuff its queitend down. its really good in corners and on the straight too
the closest spec stuff to oberon i found was this

and its working great
