yeah 1000lbs front and rear is what alot of usa guys rave about, I ended up having my civic's front set as hard as I could, its not really as much about the shock in the front, but if you can eliminate all the lift from the front then thats half the battle. (this includes the lift from the top a arm aswell),
as far as the the car height goes, the lower the better and by that I mean all the way around, you have to consider the amount of air flow under the car, if its low there will be very little to flow under it and you'll go faster, the higher it is the more flow under the car there is.

also try traction bars, to eliminate any forward to backward movement of the wheels..

another plan of attack would be drive the car to the meet on the tyres, just take it easy so you dont crash on the way there, just take a trailer incase you need it to get home if thats the case, you'll store alot of heat in the tyres from driving on them and it will be easier to get them hot..

Limiter in second gear, EG6 lsd box, xtreme 610kg pressure plate, D2 coilovers, internally stock B18C, 225 hoosiers with 10 pound of inert gas looking like a garden bar on dole day.
I have the same pressure plate and tyres as you with 10psi hot also.
I only have 123kw at the front jackie and I can smoke up the wheels in 2nd gear.

I have always started in 1st just in the trough, and then into 2nd with hand brake on hard while smoking the bags. Sometimes it would pull forwards other times it wouldn't. Either way they were getting hot enough!

I have tein flex suspension, 524lb front and 224lb rear. Front set to medium and rear shocks set right to hard, maybe I’ll set em all hard next time.
Also an ATS metal diff, I found I had to launch at around 7500-8000 otherwise it would bog with the hoosiers. This resulted in me blowing a bearing in the left CV at the end of 13-14 runs.
Power problem

P.S was there water in the trough when you were tyre warming?

Have you considered Skunk2 or Omni drag coilovers? They seem to be commonly used in the states..might help your cause..

had a look at some tire warmers..
and damn they are expensive..

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/tirewarm.htm

you can get a set of 4 from $1450.00
but i think thats US dollars..

FLYRYD.. if it fits budget think you should find another person whos keen to go halves on one of them..

you only need your front tires warm... still expensive tho...

Dont know how that would work lol. But the tyre warmers do work, Marty Rostenberg used them for the domain hill climb because there isn't enough time to get the tyres warm. They do work wonders. American drag cars sometimes run them but they're really really serious.

I just had a look at the Omni coil over drag setup which is supposed to be one of the best and used by a few really top guys with records.

http://www.omnipowerusa.com/product.asp?P_ID=122

They're 1000 lb in the rear and 670 lb in the front. Does this sound about right? I'm just planning on getting average coilover shocks and then putting some heavy springs in but i'm just unsure about what to do on the front, i'm pretty set on 1000lb for the rear.

Sorry for stealing your thread Jacky, i've still got a lot of learning to do ops:

I was always to sympathetic to drop the clutch in 2nd gear in my old ITR (watch out Logger.. haha).

I used to sit the rear wheels in the water trap for a bit of extra hold, and pull the handbrake up and go for it in 1st, problem i always had was it just dragging the rear wheels locked up :s

I never got any smoke, cos 1st wasnt fast enough but it was goot enough for a 1.8 at Masterton on RA1's.

Only at the start of the day, doesn't need to be wet for me to bake, that was a small skid btw, deanis has some sweet pics of me and a mates V8 valient side by side smoking, can't even see the civic. At the end of the day with no water in the trough.

I used to start the car in first in the trough, but i have found its much much easier and better to just dump it in second, still spins hard infact it spins harder

i wouldnt slowly let the clutch out, thats when it heats up and doesnt work/breaks ops: (like my old xtreme pressure plate that i broke)
once you try it, it doesnt actually seem that bad on the car IMO, it spins up pretty easy, but when the tires heat up and drag you along it feels like its a bit hard on the car.

Re: how to make our tyres work beta b4 launchin at drags

remember for you guys with good fully adjustable suspension - once you have your spring rate set up right - remember to have perfectly even both sides - you can control alot of weight transfer with your front and rear dampners and get = yup u guessed it less wheel spin when you actaully launching to race
