Time for an update. Went and picked up a donor car from Blenheim on Thursday. The Motor in the CRX is getting tired and the opportunity arose to buy this when a fully rebuilt ZC, with high comp pistons cams, lightened flywheel heavy duty clutch etc. so hopefully teamed up with the link it should run amazingly once tuned. Also had a few other goodies like race seat gear box and spares galore .

Few Questions though:
Will the exhaust from the civic fit on the CRX from the headers back or are the civics longer?
Also Are the GAR or GAB coil over sleeves in pic any good or am i better off sticking with the king springs?

sorry mike dont agree with using the non power steering rack they have a lower steering ratio so you have to turn the wheel further to turn the wheels the same distance , just remove the pump and resevoir and all that crap. On the rack itself there will be lines that come out the top of the steering unit slice these and loop them together , there will be too more lines that go across to the passenger side of the rack slice these and join them with a tee joint then run a line from the tee joint up to a small breather can. Once this is done you need to bleed the rack by turning the wheels from lock to lock be careful though as fluid will come shooting out into the breather can under about 700psi of pressure. once it stops squirting shitloads out drain the can and your ready to go , this will leave enough fluid in the rack to lube it without pressurising it. you defenitly want to look at upgrading the radiator as overheating could be a problem with an old radiator that is most likely pretty dirty , also look at ducting cold air to your brakes as the stock rotors and calipers will get very hot and you run the risk of melting a seal and theres nothing funny about having no brakes at 200k. other than that all i can say is dont get caught up with shiny carbon and lexan blah blah cos the reality is that your better off spending your money on other things getting a new loom made is a good idea you will be suprised how much weight you save by getting rid of un-needed wires.

Fair call on the lock to lock ratio Hamish however, this may seem strange but I have actually found the lower ratio easier to control at speed with the short wheel base. Its less touchy thats for sure but hairpins are a bit of a forearm killer.
I have always been a fan of the non-power racks in EF's ever since my GTi.
Quaife also do a shorter rack and pinion set for the manual rack buts it's a bit expensive and I'm not sure if it works in RH racks.

????? I beg to differ there pal there are a lot of very successful targa and track cars campaigning king race springs.
At least with Kings you know what spring pressures you are getting.

And be a little careful with GAB stuff, it's generally good but they dont make a lot of their products and re-brand other peoples product, the shock absorbers are good as they are made by Kayaba (kyb) but the GAB strut bars i had on the CRX before it was caged were utter shit and good for nothinig but bling.

I run king springs in the front of my car. Very good for the $ and heaps avalible. I would go as far as to say that most race cars in nz are on kings

Is that a "brown"- or "black"-top ZC? (before the red paint, obviously )

I was told that a Link wouldn't make enough of a difference on an engine like this to warrant the hassle/expense. How much difference would it make?
What kind of gearbox alterations do you have in mind??

Re: CRX Track build, with a few questions

Hey, does anyone know what happened to this project ? ?

In regards to the gearbox selection, has anyone experienced ef1 l3 gearboxs mated to the zc using ef1 knuckles meaning removal of int. shaft and use of ef1 cv joints etc?

What are your thoughts?
