Location: Auckland | puke' times So whats a good target time for lapping Puke' in a DC2 ITR with stiff street suspension (400/250lb), updated brakes, stock'ish power and running DOT Rated tyres (dunlop Foruma R's DJ01's) ? I'm thinking mid 11's at a push ? I hear the Honda Challenge cars get low 10's, is that with DOT rated tyres or is that with slicks ?

Location: Auckland | Honda Challange guys were more like 1.12s at the last round of puke on dot legals, though it was a slowish day across the board. I would say 1.11s would be a top shelf effort for a stock ITR |

| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | At the puke round of honda challenge i manged to run 1.11's on dot tyres. My car has done low 10's on dots around there in practice though. And that is a car that has only got the same power as a standard jap spec itr. Being NZ new it is only 190hp standard and it is only now putting out just over 200hp. So i would say a middle 11 and you are doing quite well.

Location: Auckland | Thx, it gives me something to target for. We were getting mid 12's with 2x onboard on Sat when there was no traffic. I'm considering doing the endurence series. Anyone got a url link for it ? Times, dates, who's running it etc As for Honda challenge, how much panel damage gets done ? Whats the most competitive chassis/car/setup ?

Location: Wanganui | racing Running a car in the endurance series will cost more than doing a full season of honda challenge panel damage is caused by people driving beyond their limits . the harder you push the higher the risk . the advantage of running in a series is that you get to know [and trust] the other drivers. panel damage is normally not a problem when running mid field and back . I think all the new competitors running near std type r Integras this season would agree. Its the driver not the car that is quick ! Civic and Integra chassis both have good and bad points . A b18cr powered EG is still hard to beat !! |

Location: Wanganui | racing in honda challenge two of the 3 races are handicap reverse grids so a slower consistant driver has an excellent chance of being on the podium if he can get away at the start, leaving the fast guys to work their way through the field over half the honda field are stock or very near it with many honda drivers learning the track for the first time as I have said many times before a std car is easier to start in than a modified one [and cheaper] start on dot rubber as it is cheaper, easier to learn on and maybe only a second a lap slower than slicks - the majority of the hondas are on dot rubber this season a new driver in a fast car will still be slow If you can do 1.12's at puke you will be racing mid field in honda challenge without any more work on the car , assuming it is MANZ safety compliant and has a cage and log book. If you are prepared to drive sensibly within your own limits you should have some excellent racing , meet some great Honda enthusiast and be hanging out for the next round ! If you are Auckland based dont just race at Puke !! |

| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | I will second what big Al said, that when you are running in the middle of the feild it is good fun and panel damage seems to be very very rear. I am new to the series and i have to say that it is great fun and a good bunch of people. Come on get your act together and come and join us for a round.
