Yeah we are aiming for around 850kg with driver so the car will need to be about 760-770kg on its own.I guess a trip to the weigh bridge will tell us if we have suceeded in that. I think we will do it as the whole car is bare ie, all underseal, carpet, linings, heater ,aircon ,unused wiring and brackets etc.factory seats weigh 19.5kg each and our new ones are just 5.3kg. lightweight cp035 wheels remove a bit too. Will be looking for a lightweight bonnet and hatch at some point. We are running a built 2 litre B18CR engine according to our calcs will be 10kg lighter than a stock B series. I guess your Ballade would be really light weight? We had thought about a Ballade but have found them hard to find so the EF it is. cant wait to start smashin some axles! we are using a ITR S80 box and axles so hopefully they will hold up for a few runs. If you use a fairly standard clutch you wont break axles, we have proven they only break from nasty heavy clutches and/or solid centres. I recommend an up-rated pressure plate with an exedy race clutch plate (full face organic). A lot of people get carried away with clutches in FWDs which is totally unnecessary especailly with N/A setups. Over the top clutches just cause havoc with the rest off the drive line and are very hard on your crankshaft thrust bearings. I have got a B18C apart in my garage that has been destroyed from using a super heavy clutch pressure plate. My car got better 60ft times than the others in our group and never broke any axles/C.Vs.

How did you take 10kg off the engine?? just exhaust and intake mods?

The weight drop is mainly due to using lighter pistons, rods, Alloy flywheel and intake. Also the crank has been slightly lightened but not to the point of sacrificing strength. The clutch we are using is 1800lbs and is sprung so shouldnt be too brutal with any luck.

yeah we have thought about those too, ive seen them on ebay and the summit racing site. Do you know of any dealers in NZ that sell those?? Also thought of changing the bushes in the front lower arms to the bearing type for better response etc. Any views on that idea??
