speeds - well depends on your suspension and overall car - in my standard Domani though - on the home straight - hit top of 3rd, kept it in 3rd around the first left hander, down to 2nd for the hairpin, back to 3rd until the next hairpin onto the straight then back to 2nd - obviously a B series engine will actually hit 4th gear along the straights, but i'd say the gears around corners will be the same.

Yeah nice club circuit.

Corner 1 you should be able to go around just by having a light lift of the throttle if you get your lines right.

and then Out very wide for the first harpin and almost turn to late, then in hard almost to the ripple stripe then out wide again.

Then out wide for the corner after the hairpin, come in hard and then apex light and right through the S's trying to keep it nice and tight.

Now the final turn the hardiest of the track to get a perfect line. If done right there are 2 different turning points in it. out wide before the corner starts coming in earlier then you'll think almost right to the inside then back out hug around then back in hard to the ripple stripe then lightly move back out to the outside ripple stripe.

Have fun

the apex is the inside of the corner eh? and ripples are those red and white stripey things aye?

and is a good line for the first corner to come out wide on the straight and come in tight on and around the corner...?

from that pic you can pretty much see the most common line to take, the "racing line" . Interesting pic, i thought it was bigger from the evens you see on TV . . . maybe i am thinking of a different track, or maybe its just the perspective.

B series should be quicker than one minute i think Pizzaboy last time got down to low 50's with a fairly standard setup - i was doing 1mins in a stock standard ZC without pushing very hard - it is a short track though - only 1.4kms i think?

Depends who loves there car more maybe??

Sounds like it could be fun, so you don't/won't even make it into top gear? I suppose that is right given that most lightly modded cars will be late 3 to early 4 gear over the 1/4

actualy it was very standard

Gudgen: assuming the suspension is setup fairly well on your civic and you're not a complete ass of a driver you should be able to get in the low 50's without too much trouble, from memory i did 53-54 secs with a completely stock but stipped out DA6. And I wasnt going all out cos I had to drive home on the tyres I was racing on

I only hit just under 150 down the straight so its nowhere near 5th gear

As for picking lines and gears for the corners, take it easy for the first few laps and try and pick out the racing line. After a while start pushing a bit harder and you will figure out which gear you should be at each point on the track
I found leaving the car in 3rd to almost the rev limiter going through the S's past the pits and into the last corner before the straight worked best for me cos if I went for 4th the car got really unsettled and would go into a big drift at about 140km/h. But your civic probably handles very differently from the way my teg used to

I cant wait for the trackday to see how much better my car goes now

yeh if suspension is average or good and brakes are ok, should do 50-48 seconds on a intake and exhaust b16a if not better.
shouldn't get worse than 53s thats for sure unless u are running out of brakes or swaying like a boat

thats bollocks. a CTR ran 48s standard on racing tyres and a mivec RS ran high 48s and supras ran 47s sideways..

anyway i ran out of tyres and brakes were sketchy as well as swaying too much for my liking and ran low 54s..not good, but not bad..

Some info I picked up just from spectating:
- For the last track day the competitors started from the pit lane exit, which is near the break in the trees on the right of the picture. The track runs counter-clockwise so your first corner is the long left at the far end of the track.
- Don't put your handbrake on when you finish your hot laps, you might end up fusing the pad to the disc. Most people were putting their jack behind a wheel to stop their car rolling back into the trees in the pits.
- Flat shifting sounds fucking awesome.
- James will kick your ass.

I won't be racing as my car will be out of action.

Lol, yeah stay outta the way of the silver Civic

Depending on what tyres you're running you might want to bump the pressure up a bit for the day. I ran my 195/60/14's at around 38psi

Also, watch out when you go back onto the track for the 1st lap after leaving the car for a bit as the brakes might need a bit of heat before they start working properly again. I got caught out at the last trackday and went through the corner at the end of the straight very sideways 8O

Excuse my ignorance and OTness, but what exactly is flat shifting? I kind of assumed it was when you change up a gear, but say you were going up hill and made no power due to the change. But seeing as it's used in a track context I would now assume I'm completely wrong ?

Do you hit the clutch at all or just slam the lever into the next gear for that?

I am trying tofigure out how that would work, your engine is already near or on the revlimit, so by the time you manage to get from one gear to the next with your foot flat on the gass i would imagine you are bouncing on the limiter?

it only takes an instant to slam the gear its still going to be faster than normal shifting.
