Horny_Devil's EG6 Build - The Beginning of a Long Long Road *Updated 04/08/08*

Well its about time for me to start a build thread on my new project.

My plans for this car are to have a tidy weekend racer, and still have it road legal. The first things that are going to get done to it are a general tidy up, and swap anything from my old car over thats in better condition. Next will be suspension/interior, then motor and a paint job. I haven't decided on what motor I'm going to run in it just yet, but I'm gonna have plenty of time to think about it due to being deployed on Te Kaha, which is going to Asia for 3 month.

And for those who know me, it will be better than my last ride

The Car:
1992 Honda Civic SIR-S
B18C
S80 LSD gear box.
Koni yellow adjustable shocks
Neuspeed super low springs
nolathane rear bushes
4-1 headers
2.5" exhaust to Rage stainless barrel muffler
CD player
DC2 seats front
black interior
aftermarket side skirts

The car when i brought it:

All the pictures from the build can be found here: http://jason.bdash.net.nz/gallery/EG6-Project

Table Of Contents:
1. General Tidy up of the car
2. Dash wiring
3. Audio gear and random purchases
4. New Bonnet and Lip

How do you find the springs? Some people say they are too hard on the streets. I'm thinking of using them in my eg6, thinking they might be too low as it's got itr springs/shocks already.

Re: Horny_Devil's EG6 Build - The Beginning of a Long Long Road

First Update:
  1. First thing i did was install some Black ITR Recaros into the front. I got these off Brian (Bananaman) and they're in pretty good condition. The drivers side has Bride low seat rails and the passengers has stock ITR ones.

  2. Next problem was, the car has been swapped from auto to manual. So when i was removing the cup holders to put in my Gauges, i found the auto shift selector stuffed under the console. so i found out what wires i needed to join in order for it to start, joined them and removed the shift selector. while i was there i also removed the plug from behind the cluster so that the shifter lights don't work on the dash. this cluster will eventually get replaced with a manual one. I'm going to try and remove all the auto wiring from the car when i take the dash out. Ive still yet to sort out the reverse lights though.

  3. Seeing as i have got a heap of parts from the old red civic sitting in Greg's (badcf4) shed at the moment, I decided i would swap over all the bits that are in better condition, than the ones that are currently on the car. so in the next few weeks the dash will be coming out and ill be putting in a dash that i brought off Aaron (d16a7), as its in better condition than what i currently have (see the above picture). when the dash comes out this will be going in, in place of the AC evaporator so i can remove the AC properly.

  4. I intend to put the red doors onto the car, along with the red rear bumper. I swapped over the door cards from the coupe ones i got off Aaron onto the red doors. i noticed inside the black door it was missing the plug that joins the door loom to the main wiring loom, meaning unless i cut the wiring the black door wasn't coming off the car in a hurry so off to Strong's i went. While i was there i found this:

Black bumper with spot lights and an SIR lip and the best thing is its in tip top condition. cost me $200 along the a new plug for the main loom so i can wire up the door.
  5. i also received a set of these:

Glass Housing Headlights, thanks to PARTS GURU, so today i jacked the car up and proceeded to remove all the lights and the bumper. once the bumper was off i found there was a shit load of gravel behind it and up in the inner guards so i cleaned all that out, weighed about 1.5kgs. I straightened up the bumper hangers, and taped up a bit of loose wiring. While the car was up in the air i gave it a oil and filter change. Next on the cards was fitting the glass headlights and amber corner lights, and to my surprise i had 2 left hand ones, so know we know what happened to the ones Adam has at FBI (he has 2 right hand ones) so i could only fit one side. Then i mounted the new bumper with the screws and some new bolts to hold it secure. Then headed off to FBI to change the lights over. No finished photos just yet as i haven't had a chance to change the other side over yet as it started to rain. will get some next time.

Next thing on the cards for the weekend is to swap the red doors on and sort out the door wiring. Will also put the red bumper onto it if i have the time. But first things first, fix the accord, as the clutch master cylinder (yes its a hydraulic clutch and its 1980) shat its self so Greg's been hunting me down a replacement.

ummm they're not to bad hardness wise, but if ur running 17's some people might find it unbearable. i don't mind it though.

as for low, its possibly a little to low in the front and not low enough in the rear for me, as it makes mine and Greg's drive a little difficult. Ill be getting some Full coilovers later on down the track.

Hmm, the last owner said with my car, putting in the ITR susspension lowered 20mm in the front and 5mm in the rear from standard Possibly because of harder rear springs for an integra?

Your car's looking awsome anyway, mines black too!

looks like the same car though, a black SiR-S with those same wheels that you got for sale in the original photos . Pretty sure it is the same car. Was it already B18C when you purchased it or B16A auto?

Very nice work Jase. Looking at the thread of the new aussie guy I might have to look into a Hatch front bumper for my car.

Will be keeping an eye on the progress.
