PROJECT KUMARA (ef3 zc turbo), UPDATED 12/9/08

hey, this build was started about 2 months ago, but was only posted on h-t, but with some of the problems im coming accress, i thought i would start a build thread here, rather that making threads and pissing people off.

anyways as ome people know, i have a 1989 ef3, rebult zc, semi racing suspension, and a few other things like the pink paint job

anyways, after getting to many pansenger fines and loosing my licence for 3 months, i decided to go towards the boost, aswell as touching up the body

the turbo

adaptor plate

radiator

that was about as far as i got for a while, then the holidays started yesterday, and finaly a sunny day, so i opened the car up and gess wat i found, 4 lakes and lots of mold

so out will all the interior, and drained the car, and because i want to cage it and paint it inside and out i started removing the sound deadning

and had a go at painting a rim

before

after

also have water lines on, oil line on, still waiting on intercooler piping

one of the things i need help with right now is what is the law with replacing the rear quarter windows and sunroof with lexan???

because im gona have no back seats from the rollcage, i havnt got a need for opening rear windows, so i want to make them like the windows in the eg civic, but the windows dont exactly fit right to seal them up, so what is the best wayn to go, lexan???

you can do the windows but unless its going to be a race car spend the money else where as lexan that is road legal is real expensive , like 500+ a sheet. u can get marine grade but it isnt legal and it fades with the sun.

im not sure about certing the lexan but it can be included in the interior mod if you are part of motor sport NZ, this includes being a member of a car club that is part of MSNZ and having a log book for your cage, belts etc. for you puke car club is local.

deffinatly the easiest way and possibily the only way if you have more than a half cage.

Re: PROJECT KUMARA (ef3 zc turbo street racer)

dont no yet lol, waiting on pay day so i can go buy a intercooler, only got those two pipes on, the ends aint beaded but once the hoses are on there prety hard to get off even without the hose clamps, it says there good for 35 psi but i wudnt trust the bov that came with it, its too shinny lol

it will be cleaned up with wire tucking ann all, but my aim is to get it running by the 8th of august so i kan drive it lol

I'd be surprised if that piping doesn't come off under boost.

I remember seeing your build thread on HT too

Re: PROJECT KUMARA (ef3 zc turbo)

use the racepro bov, at least its from a well known brand. and get the piping beaded before you drive it, itll be a good investment. even just weld it a bit or something.
what engine management are you going to use?

thought so, whats the best way to weld the bov adaptor onto the piping because the piping in almunium and the bov adaptor is steel

i have a ecu off CRZYSI that has been chiped for boost, but it has some problems with it but still good for running in, im gona get anpther ecu chiped and road tuned for the mean time and at the end of the year im gona do a dyno tune
