Location: Napier | Ef8 Crx B20vtec Am Street/drag Build My brother and i are currently undertaking a street/drag allmotor build that has so far been just over a year in progress. So far we have had our engine completely build for us by kelford and speedfactor at a considerable 5 figure cost!! and have completely resprayed the car in black with red pearl (4 coats and 4 coats of clear) The interior is painted black and completely stripped, apart from leaving the factory dashboard in. We have 2 Momo start race seats fitted saving a fair bit of weight over factory seats, Autometer phantom guages, 280mm Momo wheel on a D1 quick release boss kit. Exterior at the moment is rather standard looking but will be changed at a later date. Under the car is Energy suspension bushes and D2 coilover suspension with standard brakes, soon to be upgraded with aftermarket rotors and decent brake pads n fluid. The wheels are Enkei CP035 15"x6.5 with Mickey Thompson ET Drag 22x8 Slicks. A four point chomoly cage is the next thing on the list. Now to the heart of it all. Engine Block: 1998 B18CR Block bored to 2l litres 13.7:1 CR Darton cylinder sleeves Alloy Block guard wiseco pistons and rings Probe con rods ARP headstuds, mainstuds, flywheel bolts Knife edged and balanced crankshaft Genuine Honda bearings Type r waterpump and oilpump Type r oil pickup and baffled sump Fidanza Alloy flywheel Head & Intake: B16a Head KTEC Stage 3 ( custom work done + tested) Cometic 3 layer head gasket Port matched Skunk Pro II manifold 70mm Throttlebody GTIR 444cc injectors Malpasi fuel pressure reg Hondata intake gasket Driveline: S80 gearbox- Factory LSD (For now) Xtreme 5 puck clutch 1800Lb. Once the engine is in the car it will be tuned with a Stage3 Hondata s300 ecu, 4-1 Hytec Headers, custom air intake system. Will update this thread as more news comes to light. |

If we decide to go all out later on then we will increase compression to 15:1, upgrade the fuel system and run straight methanol through 52mm IDA quad throttle bodys! |

(nzdra rule book) launch controll is gay anyway. you should be able to drive better than a computer in an NA car with the whole flat torque curve goin on. once you get some seat time up you will have a good feel for traction. got any pics? im keen to see the build progress on the beast. sounds good so far!

(nzdra rule book) [quote] Whats your defintion of launch control? Because if its the same as mine, ie a 2 step limiter, then im pritty sure every turbocharged import running faster than a 10.0 is using it. Thats what lets them build boost on the line...

We are running a Hondata S300 so yeah as you will know it has adjustable vtec engagement, launch rpm limiter, and flat throttle shifting. I do have a copy of the 06/07 NZDRA rulebook, so will have to read it more thoroughly. And yes you are right seat time will be the key with a new car like this one. Pics are on the way just have to upload them and as i only have access to dial up i have been putting it off lol. May have a shot at it tonight ![]()

Location: Waitakere | Re: Ef8 Crx B20vtec Am Street/drag Build rule book says you can use electronics for control of the engine but not traction. so i interpret that as if you were using it to spool a turbo while your car isint moving then you are sweet but if its causing you to have a traction advantage (like this will be used for) then you cant. but it isnt really that clear and i suppose you could argue that its just an engine rev limiter and only controlls engne parameters. its different to wheel sensors controlling engine speed. probably have to ring NZDRA on that. but trust me when i say you probably wont need it anyway. traction bars from the other thread: ive got an article here in a honda tuning mag that has ef crx suspension setups for drag racing. in the front they use sperical bearings on the end of the radius rods that go into the cross member and some teflon lined bearings at the pivot points on the lower controll arms. they also used a 0-1.75 degree camber kit. they dont say where they got any of this gear from though. ![]()

| Team NZH: Mod 9,000rpm (S2000 Redline!) | Re: Ef8 Crx B20vtec Am Street/drag Build i am pretty sure the only thing that rule is getting at is not using "traction control" devices. Using a launch limiter has never been illegal.

Yeah thats a good point but being street regd we gonna need the cooling. As for the rear bumper we do have extra paint left so drilling the rear bumper could still be an option ![]()
