Re: Type R Build Thread

Came home from work today a bit early so ripped into it
Masked up the bay ready for the primer.

Got out the 2pak primer

And after 3 good coats of primer we have the priming done

Unmasked it, now I will give it probably about 4 days to really settle because I would prefer not to get much/any shrinkage, really wanting a nice smooth finish.

Went down to Enzed this afternoon and got a couple of Hose tails for the steering rack so I can loop the rack. I just have to get some pipe to suit now. Damn my subframe is so FILTHY!!! soon to be sorted

Re: Type R Build Thread

Just took the head off last night, I am thinking of putting a spoon head gasket in cause it increases the compression anyone got an opinion ?
as for the motor
just cleaning it up mint, replace cambelt headgasket and put a thermal intake gasket in it.

For the price you might as well just by a OEM intake gasket does the same job.

Re: Type R Build Thread(updated 06/06/2008)

I have been working hard on the loom today, not finished yet but nearly there

Took the head off the other night, its now down at GER having the valve stem seals replaced a general clean up, so here the block with no head

Also been doing a bit of polishing, damn my hands are sore from buffing for like 4 hours today on the machine LOL, but im pleased with the result

Re: Type R Build Thread(updated 06/06/2008)

that manifold looks like new, wanna come polish up my headers?

looking good though, you wont regret having shit like the stem seals done while its apart. are you going to change the gaskets while the heads off? saves it being a pain in the ass later on
