I'll get a paint and panel, picking up carbon bonnet tomorrow, going to carbon the roof as the clear coats peeling and it needs a paint anyway. It also needs shocks, looking at some konis for it at the moment. Just got nolathane bushes for the rear and Bendix HD pads all round today. Also ordered a harness converter so i can run my S300. Slowly making my way through the list of shit that needs doing, the ABS system is faulty so I have to remove that and go back to manual brake lines. I'm also going to re-cover the rear seats in black suede, the seats are unique to the EJ7 so I have no choice but to go custom. Still heaps to do. | ||

| Senior Member 8,000rpm (B Series Redline!) | Re: doo0T doo0T's ej7/b18cR diary Warning: rant...... I am ________ sick of the power tripping ______ ______ sons of ______ at LTSA testing stations. They are so unpredictable. Its a total lottery, somtimes you go there and they are slacks as ____ and other times like today they seem to take sick pleasure in ruining a man's Sunday. The whole story starts 4 weeks ago when I went for a WOF and failed on the normal honda things like rear handbrake imbalance and rear trailing arm bushes, I didn't get it fixed in time as I was heading over seas so had to come back and pay another ______ $49 for them to complete a whole new check of the whole car, shit they even checked for rust, (how can my car rust out in only four weeks!?) Anyway they failed me again this time, after I'd fixed all of the previous items from the first check, this time they failed me on the 15mm rear spacers on the rear rims. Which they never cared about the first time. I was sure that the guildlines for spacers were they were acceptable as long as they did not exceed 20mm. Am I the only one that thought this? I'm sure this was the requirement, anyway..... The WOF guy said its commonly misinterpreted and that they are actually not allowed to exceed 20mm total accross the track of the car. (I think he was making this up myself) meaning anything more than a 10mm spacer each side would require a cert. I went home and studied the WOF guidelines and LVV modification guidelines and could find no specific information regarding wheel spacers except for one small line which stated any fitting of a spacer at all required LVV certification. There was no elaboration and no measurements or acceptable limits given. He said it was to do with the change in track of the vehicle. I pointed out that this was a bullshit rule as any wheel fitted with an offset of anything other than the OEM fitment would also alter the effective track and this would be impossible to enforce and keeping OEM offset is not a current WOF requirement. The silly thing is he agreed with me but basically said rules is rules. Fair enough then but if they are going to update these WOF requirements all the time, how about also updating the LVV certification process. A $50 wheel spacer set ends up costing $450 by the time you get a cert. The car already has a cert but you cant just pay a fee and get the modification added to the LVV number, no you have to fork out for a whole new cert its bullshit. The reason my car has spacers in the back is because it's had a 282 brake conversion on the front which is a 4 x 114.3 PCD, the rear is still 4 x 100 so to run the ITR rims the rear had to have an adapter plate/spacer. I said to the guy would it be ok if I went home and took off the rear wheels and spacers and put some 4x100 wheels on would it be ok? He said yes thats fine (even though we both know I'd put it back how it was as soon as I got a WOF). He said yes and so I missioned it hard in the rain with Timmiblc to swap on some 4x100 bikkies off my missus car on the back and dashed back just before closing. I got the same guy again but this time he failed me on having mis-matched wheels front to back!!!!! _____ I just cant win with this guy. I pulled out my wheels, tires and hubs section of the giudeline and no-where does it say you cant have different rims front to back, in this case it was 15" front, 14" rear but same rolling diameter. The article says rims and tyres must match across an axel but no where does it mention exclusions regarding change in rim type from axel to axel. If this were the case how does a Gallardo get a wof with 19 x 12's on the back and 18 x 10's on the front? I either grab a set of 14" 4x114.3 bikkies for the front, take off the spacers again and go back for another go or get a set of DC2 rear hubs so I dont have to use the adapters at all. It's all just one big pain in the ass, theres no way I'm forking $400 for a cert just for rim spacers they can suck my balls. I do intend to get a cert eventually because there are quite a few outstanding things that realistically need to be included, like the completed 4-wheel hub swap, but I only want to do it once and i'm not yet ready for the brakes & engine, ABS removal etc etc yet. Yep you got it. |

There far more expensive and you realistically get ___ all for your money, hell they dont even road test but the convenience gets me every time. |

So did you used to own these spacers? or ones just like it? Yes they are a total bitch and the key is long lost, had to use Timmiblc's universal angle grinder spanner, seemed to work ok but it's a bit dodgy as you cant really tighten them fully with the small spanner. |
