| Senior Member 8,000rpm (B Series Redline!) | doo0T doo0T's ej7 diary - GOOD LORD ITS FAST!! Woohoo, finally managed to get rid of the C200 "Merkin" and have gone back to my roots. All of you who said i wouldn't last with a merc and that i would be back in somthing loud and fast in no time were exactly right. I've gone and bought the b18cR'd '96 EJ7 coupe which originally belonged to Unlimitedpower here on these forums. For anyone wondering why they probably havn't seen one before thats because they are rare as rocking horse shit in NZ, this is rumored to be one of 5 or 6! I've only ever seen two other ones. They are all originally black. It already has a low k's 96 spec B18cR swap with S80 lsd box and prelude front brakes. Yes that means I have gone against all I stand for and am now driving a dirty B-series. She's a beauty though with much potential to become even better. Yes before you say anything the clear tails have only seconds to live. And yes somthing has to be done about the Doris and Arther style interior decor. It doesn't have the chromes, it has ITR '96 spec rims. It has red CTR carpet but I plan plan to complete the ctr interior swap with recaros from a DC2/DB8-R and ctr door cards and instrument cluster with recovered rear seats to match. The vtec-e revcounter just isn't up to the task ![]() timmiblc hooked me up with a ctr front lip to tidy up the bumper, bless that man, and I plan to oven the head lights apart and black out the surrounds ctr style. It's by no means mint, theres a few dents and scratches here and there and the 4-1 headers are so flattened they are nearly pinched off completely and the 2.5" exhaust sounds pretty poos at part throttle. The IACV is stuffed, there's a manifold leak somwhere and the coolant temp sensor has gone haywire and is causing all sorts of dramas. It still has the vtec-e radiator and I suspect there is no thermostat. It beeps in reverse as it used to be an auto too, man that wee feature has got to go. I'm quite glad it's not 100% right though, gives me a chance to get it right and make it how I want it. I've always wanted an EK coupe and a type-R and now I have both. I rule. The original photos from this post has dissappeared i forgot to save them off the trademe photoserver so here are some pics of when unlimitedpower owned it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by doo0T!doo0T!; 20th November 2008 at 05:00 PM. |

Location: Hastings | EK coupse were available with B16s in Aussie and were the only way to get a B16 in a (factory) EK Civic body in the US. Car looks like it has potential (That sounds like an RJ De Vera line ops: ), I've always like the coupe shape over the hatch, I can't figure out why the US guys all go gaga over the hatch. I guess we all want what we can't easily get.

Location: Auckland | mmm i need to get my coupe sorted out. apparently coupes are company cars (mine used to be, both in japan, and the person i bought it off used it for company car) so sorted there, and then you got the power aswell.. coupes always look nice, as they are different.. i like different..

This is the third engine transplant the car has had since the original vtec-e, the first was a sohc vtec with a manual box, the last was the "poor mans" ITR with an S80 + cusco 1.5 way (and i put poor-man's in ""'s because it wasn't exactly for poor men and could stomp a stock b18c-R) It is now apparently in Antz's car. This one is a plain stock standard b18cR with IHE and the box is an oem S80 with the stock helical diff. I goes pretty good i guess but to be honest i prefered the power curve of the H22a in the EG. This whole b-series thing is way too peaky, maybe I just need to get used to it but it seems it seriously lacks in torque. (there is already a lepricorn on my shoulder saying H2B euro-R)

This S80 gearbox is the tits, I can see why H2B is all the rage now. 4th gear at 100k's would be vteccing with an S80-H22a
