Crossmember welded/ suspension IN!!/engine mount fab 6. engine bolted in! 7. new knob/intake/driveshaft 8. s2k cluster retrofit 9. tunnel fabb'd! 10. custom headers fab 11. headers/exhuast complete 12. fitting kit/interior/paint ideas/cusco! 13. fitting radiator, pagids 14. rad, pipes, hoses, driveshaft! 15. color choices!!!? 16. 41 comes to the party! 17. new clutch, most expensive thing yet!!! 18. nardi 19. panel teaser/more J's!/FIRE!!!/PANEL DONE 20. Paint!!!!!! 21. Final assembly - Motor IN 22. ALmost finished!!!! 22. Track carnage!! 23. Painted cage! Short story: After owning and building my fair share of Hunduhs(sp) the last 6 years, i thought it was about time to get outta the game... As of last friday I have been honda less!@! w00t!! !! no more "Front wheel drive sux" "get a rota" comments! and less drunk pacific islander girls threating to smash me and kick my car in while i tremble in my boots because i wanna get home and make a thread on nzh about it! and have a big cry.... as most honda owners would do right??  anyways thought id try sumthing new and i aquired this little gem as most of you know its a toyota... ( and the crowd boo's) its an ae85 facelift hatchback... with a touch hachiroku goodness with ae86 rear tail lights.. yay!   and it came with one of these donks in it... what looks to be a 1600 twin cam thing... meh who cares what it is... its says toyota and it makes the wheels turn!! quads and all!  came with a full 6point MANZ cage, along with log book... hoorah! supra gearbox and hilux diff and coilover suspension up front and TRD springs in the rear.. a set of oldschool volk reverse mesh wrapped in dz101s up front and Trampio's! on the rear hold this beast to the ground! after driving this thing for a month now, all i can say is.. its an animal! the tacho dusnt work, the brakes dont work ( as ants found out the hard way) but who cares its a great barrel of fun!! the lil 1600 4age pulls quite well and a kick of the clutch sends the whole thing in an opposite direction! i think its called drifting... but who knows im still learning the rwd lingoANYWAYS, to turn a long story short... I ended up selling my 98spec ITR to some theiving asian bastard (read no brakes above) for the sum of 10,000 and being my 22nd birthday this weekend... decided id go shopping for my self...... since the ae85 only had one seat no heater and no stereo and i just sold my ITR beator... i had to pick up a new run about so i went over to a fellow nzh members place... cant remember his name, but he was building an EK sedan thing... it had been freshly painted, but i didnt want to mention to him that his petrol flap still had hints of his previous color in it... i chuckled to myself while i handed over a measly wod of cash for this thing!  phooooar ! another corolla! Ian has truely gone mad! or just gay for these damn toyota things Next on my shopping list was a trip to the liqour store  sorted! :thumbsup: after that i ended up going to sleep ( most likely from driving the new beater..) or from watching the rugby.. take your pick saturday rolled around and 3rd on my shopping list took me to auckland... so grabed the 1st asian i knew that had a van... hello ants!! and off jafa land we went after getting lost for a good half an hour EVEN with a map.. silly asian I finaly got my hands on some new shoes for the AE   sport maxx 15x8 with zero offset.... and ruffly 3.5" of dish.... quote borat here ________ :wink: yum yum now seeing as it was my 22nd and all, and my 21st was piss poor i had to redeem myself for this year.... I took my big wod of 10k cash; less for the wheels and headed on over to strong for honda... auto dismantlers after a quick wank in the showroom looking at this  I pulled up my pants and handed over some more moola.... .....2 hours pass..... and a carefull drive back to hamilton and this now resides in my garage    cluster even! 8)  so now jono (BENTEC agreed to be my best friend) since he just completed his swap... and after seeing his in action i cannot wait to get the thing going! :twisted: plans are to also panel and paint the car!! i sorted out a deal with one of my good friends who has done a bit of both... and i sold him my toyota drivetrain to pay for it all so there we have it folks! I also got a digital camera for my birthday so a big thanks to mom for that one... so there will be plenty of pics! saturday night... drinks on! and im still hungover!! stay tuned!

Location: Palmerston North | Those sportmax's are bargainous rims for what you get I reckon! Quite a few of the oldschool.co.nz boys are running them now, great alternative to spending ridiculous amounts on old Jap rims... When you paint it,leave the bumpers black for the retro look! Mean project, F20C is the ultimate conversion for my KP, ever since I saw the KP60 in Dunedin running one... I guess one in an AE85 will be ok |
