| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | the timing was out by a tooth the cambelt slipped because a bolt had droped down into the cambelt cover and caught on the belt which made it jump a tooth.. the belt has been changed now and timing corrected.. dyno tuning tomorrow ![]()

| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | ok well went to tune today and only managed to get 92kw ... so they decided to do another compression test and 240psi right across then he check the throttle bodies to find the butterflys werent fully opening ahhh so after playing around with that they managed to get them to fully open... then they tryed a quick run on the 3/4 throttle tune before they closed up and what do you know 118kw @ the wheels (untuned) .. im so buzzed so tomorrow i shud be seeing the numbers around the 140kw mark .. i may have to call in sick .. also my map sensor isnt guna be plumed in to the itb's either, link recommended it does that sound right???

Location: Auckland | then i dont understand how you get high cam without wot.... you said there was definately vtec.. i find this hard to believe.... no vtec would have given throttle not opening properly away after a little investigation

Location: Auckland | dude luke.. my vtec would engage at certain rpm no matter what throttle was... the ecu sets VTEC at different points under different loads...

| Senior Member 5,000rpm (VTEC Power!) | I'm sorry but if has taken them this long to work out that the butterfly's arn't opening then the guys you have tuning your car are a bunch of mupets! It is the first rule of tuning quads is to make sure the open fully. And thats before you even start the motor.

Location: Hamilton | You can open butterfly's by hand when the motors not on all you like what difference is that going to make? Butterflys are controlled. There was a number of issues with this thing that have had to be worked through all of which have had to be ironed out. If they hadn't been as through this thread would have been another blown motor thread by now. Im sure everyone is sick of me defending this place and TBH Im pretty fuckn sick of having to do it when people don't know what they're on about...

Location: Tauranga | you must check if they open fully by throttle operation too, also checking tps voltage for open and closed with ignition on motor off. I don't know the place at all or what has happened here. Just mentioning that for useful info Confusing thread tho. "its a tooth out, no its not, yes it is blah blah' seems alot of confusion was going on. |

Location: Tauranga | Hehe I always check that in my cars ![]() if its at 133kw and they are doing light load tuning, your peak won't increase (or I doubt it) 133kw will be where it's at peak, area under the graph will improve. GOod to see you got it going! |

Location: Auckland | btw . . . dont expect the car will run as nice compare with normal intake under 3500rpm . . its normal if u floor it and nothing there . . . until u get up in the rev range if u want the rev to speed up heaps and try to lean it out and give it heaps of timing it will just knocks .. . it doesnt work . . . if the engine in good nick and cams or that setup should pull 140 area might need to spend more time on it but all depends . . . funny that they only find out the tb wasnt fully open . . dont they tune it by TPS then MAP on link . . . . either no one checked it tunin b4 they started can just calibrated the sensor as it is been playing around with different computer to tune up this other car with ITB . . . found something really interesting . .. its better to tune with TPS and remove the MAP sensor . . At different condition . .. as in . . . sea level, weather high or low pressure will put the tune out but with tps its matter of water temp and intake temp BUTs with ram air . . . not just a cold air feed . . . a sealed and boxed up unit with air that builds up by driving . . . then it needs a MAP sensor.. There is only few computer that works well with that trick went is not getting pressured pressure . . it runs on TPS map then if the intake pressure does get charged . . it cross over to the MAP map And some computer that is marketed that they are made or design to tune ITB doesnt work as they say . . .
