EK9 CTR N1 Track project under development *56k slooow*

In the build (and the garage) for months now, the latest attempt at Targa by a Honda is nearing completion.

After much heart ache (mainly financial) I am happy to announce that we will be on the road soon.

The list of mods is relatively small at this stage, as we are wanting to go as fast as we can with the current set up before changing anything. Current list of mods:

NGK plugs/leads
Cold air box
Simota air filter
98 Spec ITR 4-1 Headers
2 1/4 inch exhaust
Omori water/oil temp/oil pressure gauges
Battery relocated to rear
Momo T frame seats
Monza 3 inch 6 point harnesses
Buddy Club Racing Spec Dampers
Pagid race compound brake pads
Front brake cooling ducts
Dunlop D98 semi slicks dry/D101 semi slick wet
Interior stripped (and I mean STRIPPED)
Relay box and fuse box relocated
G.A.P. Rally intercom
Terratrip timing/speed equipment

The only thing missing from the mods list is the roll cage, and we are ready to go!

Plans for future mods include:

Roll cage (number ONE!!!)
Buddy Club Racing Spec Condenser
Bigger brakes
Bigger wheels
Buddy Club Spec IV cams
Buddy Club P-1 Racing Vales
Buddy Club Racing Spec Valve Springs and Titianium Retainers
Buddy Club SpecII or Spec III exhaust
Quad throttle bodies
Hondata Phenolic Gasket
Hondata S300 ECU
Willwood brake bias controller
Carbon bonnet
Carbon wing
Carbon mirrors
Carbon door cards

Enough for now! Phew! SHould go like stink I reckon! With current setup the car is running approx 47.5sec on the Taupo short track, before I/H/E.

There are also plans to have this car featured in a documentary that will follow the build from a standard car to the finish line of Targa Bambina next year. I welcome any input or contributions from anyone who wants to be involved.

Big thanks so far go out to:

Mike @ FortyOne Automotive
Shane and Zhan @ STR Custom Fabrications
Abe @ EzySigns
My wife( )
Ian and Tyson Jemmett (legends)
Tom, Frank, and JC
Jase (95ITR)
Sky Zhou (bgw)

And anyone else who I have missed...

I will be updating this page/thread as the build progresses.

Cheers,

Tim

Keep up the good work Tim ... looking forward to seeing it on the racetrack doing what it does best ... making fast lap times ...

The car's looking real good and you've put a lot of effort and thoughts into the build ... I am sure as your driving ability progress you'll outdrive the Car's potential sooner than you think ...

Good luck with the rest of the build ...

p.s. I really need to find time to get my ass over to your place for a chat and pick up those trim pieces .. sorry I've been busy.

Thanks for your comments and advice so far Tom. We finally got our company sorted out, and so we are up and running and have a little time/money spare at last. Just waiting for one debtor's payment and it's off to have a cage!

AT LAST!!!

Is definitely all go for NIMM...

Top build and hope to see you at the Honda Challenge rounds this summer .
There are a few other similar spec. cars joining the series this year.

Thanks Sky. Was looking forward to meeting you out there also. Any news on your car? I hope it turns out well. If you are going to NIMM anyway I have a spare seat for you...

More pics up tonight. Please excuse my filthy garage...

Here are some more pics.
Engine bay:

Centre console, Omori gauges:

Relocated relay box (not quite finished), fuse box from under steering column will go next to it, and then both will be covered by glove box cut to fit

DYI brake ducting (go the holesaw!) and TradeMe Special 15x7 wheels (only 5.5kg each!!!)

Remote oil filter. Looks as though is great for cooling - after 10 laps of Taupo, oil temp only 65-70deg...

Apply up to four layers of vinyl on to your car to advance your reputation multiplier... Seriously, the black part is vinyl, not paint...

Racing team logo (as if anyone cares), think it looks good though...

All for now, cage is booked for twwo weeks time, more when it's finished (and maybe some video)...

Mint car mate.

Hehehe i know what you mean about the layers of sign writting, my car and support van have up to 6 layers in sum points.

Oh and you dont really need to worry about getting anymore power out of your car for targa, it comes down to how crazy you drive it. I did targa bambina this year in my ITR and i was sitting just above the middle of the pack, but then in the last 4 stages my codriver took over (Targa Expert- Used to drive pace car) and he maned to get my car up to a 7th and 9th placing in 2 of the stages.

So yer bloody good car man. See you in targa

I suppose it was destined to be him beacuse he's known my uncle for ten years...

Was recommended by Paul Ohlsen @ Ohlsen Developments, and found out he knew my uncle after that! He built my cousin's (Matt Thompson) speedway car I think. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone out there...
