CRX Drag car. 56K beware! Pics added (07-01-07)

Just reading the "EK Show car" thread and thought I would post something up about the old mans project.

Basically all started with him buying a Del Sol CRX (mid life crisis), decided to put together a decent engine package for it. One thing lead to another and now here are some specs for you guys.

Chassis:

91` CRX
Full 1 pc Fibre Glass front end
Fibre Glass doors
Lexan windows
Full cage (Certed in America for 9's)
Fully stripped
Adjustable suspension
Slicks on the front with skinnys on the rear.

Engine:

B18C block
84mm Darten sleeves
84mm Wiseco Pistons
Eagle rods
B16A1 Head
Elderbrock intake manifold
After market 70mm throttle body
Holly fuel rail
AEM Computer
Skunk2 Pro stage 3 cams
Skunk2 Valves, retainers, valve springs
Toda Cam gears
Fully Port and Polish (Matched to intake and exhaust)
External oil pump
Dry sump kit
Aluminium radiator (Out of a nascar)
Scat Crank
Nascar crank angle sensor
Harmonic crank balancer
Toda cam belt
S80 box with LSD (will soon get the straight cut gears)
Aftermarket Block girdle

The goal with this car is to get it into the 10 second bracket in NA trim.

Future mods:

Quad throttle bodies
NOS

Here are some pics to keep everyone happy.

So it all started with this car. Note the white CRX in the backround was going to be the chassis until the old man decided to move to aussie....

Then moved onto this car.....

And some parts.....

I was in Perth over christmas and the engine hadn't been put in yet. So no pictures as yet.

Will see if the old boy has any new ones later.

Not too sure where exactly. The old man brought it from the states, and it bolted up fine. There was a little bit of port matching to make sure there was a smooth transition into the intake manifold.

Wow, now i remember about 2 years ago i was around at your house selling either you or your little brother my old racing Kart and your father was asking alot of questions about setting up the Kart and racing etc. I couldnt answer alot of them to do with rules as i hadnt raced in a few years so said "i cant answer most of your questions but any question about a Honda i can no doubt answer, cause you've got a nice EG2 in the drive way, any mods?". Thats when he invited me into his little office which was quite messy at the time but had lots of different engine parts scatered around the room like cams, conrods, dry sump, crank, blah blah blah, but basically a whole lot of expensive Honda bling!! Then went outside and saw lots more intresting engine parts and the little CRX shell. So with all of this happening it resulted in a couple of Honda nutters talking for a few hours about the plan and us bouncing ideas off each other and answering questions.

At the end i was sworen to secretcy that this would not be mentioned to nobody, EVER!!

So, wow its good to see that the project is well under way. Good luck with the 10 second pass, ohh and try not to run that NAAAWS, a 10 second NA car is more appealling the a low 9 second NAWSED up car IMO

I have been a little cunning here by at least telling everyone some engine specs. But there is still some top secret stuff happening to this ride. Would like to think the old man has the funds and motivation to make this one hell of a drag car.

And besides this car / engine he has got a B20 build happening for the Del Sol..... B20 + Skunk2 stg3 Cams + Wisecos

Thats about all I can reveal about that build without the old man finding out

Just another update. Talked to the old man yesterday and he was telling me he brought a Scat crank for the car then went on to buy two more eagle cranks. (God only knows why you need 3 cranks and 1 engine?!?)

Car is coming alone nicely now and hope to have some new pictures soon.

Well a little update is in order.

Dads car is now siting with the engine mounted. Still not wired in or running but most if not all the parts required are now there. Here are a couple of teasers for you guys.

Now has a scat crank to replace the B18C crank he was going to initially use.

good to see a new pic here, after talking to you about this build over dinner in Taupo I was eagerly awaiting some news on the beast you spoke of.

That fuel rail is complete madness!!
