Nah, I'm trying to find out at the moment if there is any D-series engine that ran a smaller intermediate shaft spline so I dont have to have the ZC one machined down to fit.

O.K had another busy weekend.
The box is finished and ready to mate up to the engine.
Candy apple blue same as the engine block and looks mean in the flesh.

I decided that now that the engine and box look so damn good I might as well tidy up the engine bay as it was looking old and dirty.
I decided to de-loom and smooth the inner gaurds and get rid of fuse boxes and shit that clutters up the engine bay.

I started by stripping the loom and threading it all back through the fire wall where I will lengthen, shorten and re-route the wires to suit and get rid of any unused wiring left over from when it had all it's assessories.

I first ground off all the brackets from the ALB and Aircon etc and braized up all the bolt holes and micelaneous holes on the panels.

Then sliced the tops off the sealant glue which covers the panel joins, it's important to leave the sealand covering the joins or the filler wil crack when the car flexes. I filled and faired over the top of the braized patches and seams and have ended up with a single surface where visible from above.

I then applied an epoxy rust inhibiting etch primer over the whole lot which ensures that when I apply my high build filler primer in it will adhere to the surface. Seriously this stuff sticks like shit to a blanket.

I also did the firewall too, not jus tthe inner guards.
I'd say I'll have it all painted in another weekend now all the hard work is done. I have bought 4 ltrs of Duratech two-pot high build which I'll apply over the etch primer to smooth. I bought a litre of Midnight Black PPG Dulon to apply over that and then a Duratech two pot clear to finish it off and give it a deep shine. It's going to look sweet.

Because the carbon bonnet will be held down with flush mount clips down either side I will no longer require the slam panel and radiator support upright in the middle. I think I'll just make up a brace out of aluminium tube which will bolt up to the slam panel bolt holes. My new radiator doesn't need to mount to the slam panel any more and I'm considering getting rid of the bonnet hinges too and just having it lift off.

I had to remove the dash board to deal with all the wiring and it made it a hell of a lot easier to remove the brake booster.
It looks worse that it is, most of the wiring is surplus and once i bare it back to the essentials the re-looming shouldn't be too much of a prob.
Now that all the aircon and ducting and shit is gone from beneath the dash I have plenty of room to mount the fusebox and injector controller heatsink etc.

(BTW while i was grinding off all the unused brackets and shit i cam across about a 300-400gm bar of steel cupped in a bracket to the passenger side of the fire wall, it appeared to do nothing but add weight, must have been to stop drumming in the firewall panel)

I scored a mallory 6AL CD ignition controller last night too which i will mount to the firewall where the ALB unit used to be. That where my coil also mounts.

Sure is. The bronze was ground back 1st, the bog is to cover areas like the braized over holes and seams and to radius/cove angled corners. I'll spray a good thick coat of duratec over the top which I'll wet-sand back before the 2D undercoat.

Just grabbed some Baller JayDeeEmm rims for the beast from Lance at Solidseven, I'm stoked with them they look so much meaner in the flesh than they do in this photo.
WORK RSB 15"x7" +35 offset
They have about 2 1/2 inches of lip around the rim giving them a very cool deep dish look.
I'll give them a re-furbish before they go on the car and I rang Workwheels today to get some centre caps sorted for them and they quoted me $189+gst, bit of a rip.

I bailed from work for a couple of days to make the most of the weather and got the top coats on the engine bay.
This is the Duratec surfacing polyester primer.

This is the Dulon Midnight black ( I decided to ditch the pearl that the rest of the car has because it's so much eaiser to touch up in flat colour)

And this is with the final Two Pack polyester clear coat, shiny as all hell.

Problem is i used new icecream containers to mix the paint is and the Acetone thinner must have stripped a microscopic amount of wax out of the plastic and there is a fish eying problem with the top coat. You cant see it in thephotos but it's there and it pissed me right off after four days labour prepping and about $250 bucks worth of paint.
Ah well shit happens, it'll be all covered in shit soon anyway.
Next step, slich the donk back in.
I've also painted the subframes.

Your not going to be able to look under that bonnet once it's done. Far too shiny!!

Good work dude. Can't wait to see the finish article.

Booyaa.
Slung the donk in over the weekend and it's all working out well.
I'm stoked with the clutch, it's heavy as hell, almost a bit much for the cable though.
Linkages are sweet and the short shifter feels nice and direct.
Next job is to mount my Ignition amp, remote filter and oil cooler (hint never buy a complete cooler kit they are a rip, I got new 300psi flame proof hose (in blue), all fittings, spin-on adapter and remote mount with filter canister for $175. I'm using a ford falcon tranny cooler which is identical to the B&M coolers on tardme at the moment and I got it for $15.) I had to drive all over town to ge tthe individual parts though.
Greenlane speedshop for the adaptors, Brass fitt engineering for the fittings, Ford Wrecker for the cooler, Hydralink for the hose.)

I got a D15b inner CV cup from pick a part to test my hybrid drive shaft idea more on that later.

The radiator is all mounted up and there is no more need for the slam panel and vertical as the bonnet will be pinned down so I made up an aluminium brace which will support the headlight surrounds and give somthing to fix the radiator bracket to.
The bottom radiator port now exits out he side of the tank which has allowed me to drop the rad further down and it makes removing the lower hose so much easier now.

I painted the overflow bottle black to hide it and plan to mount the mallory box on the other side of the pssenger side engine mount in the gap and a oil catch can off the passenger strut tower.

All vacuum lines were replaced with new Platinum cured Silicone hose.

Getting so close now, once I've re-wired the loom I'll run it in NA and then hook up the disco potato and well be rockin and rolling.

Sorry for the shitness of the pics (it's a phone afterall not a camera)

Cheers Brian!

I've had another busy weekend.....
Oil cooler all plumbed up now with remote filter.
Sandwich plate fitted with oil temp and oil pressure senders.
Catch can mounted with dual one way valves to stop the can filling with boost.
Water and oil feeds to turbo now fitted and three port boost solenoid now wired and plumbed in.
Mallory 6al is also fitted , yet to be wired in.
Push through electric fan mounted to radiator.
Mallpassi fuel reg fitted and fuel return plumbed.
All plumbing is in blue flameproof 300psi rated siliconed tube.

All I have to do now under the bonnet is make a loom and plumb up the fuel feeds and weld up a dump pipe/exhaust.

Oh yeah and the car's now been trailered to my house in Auckland so no more trips out to Waiuku!! (damaged the front bumper on the way out though and will need re-glassing)(really just an excusde to re-paint the car)

watch this space....

Here she is on the way home.

Over the last few days I've totally stripped and de-wrapped the loom from front to back and stripped out all the unused wiring, enough to nearly fill a big plastic storage bin.
It's amazing how much you can strip out when you only have a windscreen demister as your only assessory!
I've also fitted the fuel pump (but I'm not sure if it's going to work yet see this thread http://nzhondas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic...=645121#645121)

The shocks are about 2 weeks away and in the mean time I think I'll re-powder coat the new rims as they could do with a touch up.

Loom is 99% finished, turbo link all wired up.
Dash is going back in tonight and I got some missle switches  one is momentary and will be used for the starter, the others are ignition power supply, fuel pump, and demister (my one and only remaining creature comfort)
I also have a dash mounted master power key switch.
Guages are the next to be wired up, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, boost, air/fuel and exhaust temp.
Koni externally adjustable platform coilovers are on their way, a little bit more fuel line plumbing and an axel mod and it's start up time. woooo00OOOOOOT!

loving it mike its so much cleaner and neater than my car lol , be careful of that hosing you used for the oil lines it has a tendency to rub through if its allowed to touch anything , i replaced mine with braided wehn i re-routed the lines cos it would of rubbed against too many things and it was already showing signs of wear as it was.
