| Senior Member 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | Segedins solved the expired harness problem, it was just the left shoulder sash which was clipped wrong and said May '05, the other two tags said May 07 so they swapped a May 07 one on from another set and now we are sorted. One expires april 09 and the other may 09 now. That should keep future scrutineers happy. ![]() |

| Senior Member 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | Shit! 8O So thats why my brakes were starting to show a little fade by the final round. Yes that is bare metal on the 2nd pic. And Yes the disc is now fuxored. "Ya o.k there brake disc? You seem to have done yourself a bit of mischief" says uncle chop chop. Looks like an excuse for some new rotors, (even though these ones were practically new anyway )![]() ![]() ![]() |

Location: Whangarei | Take those backing plates over to race brakes & get a quote for some Mintex M1166 compund. Thats what I'm running & have lasted the last 3 track days. Leave the back stock if the wear is minimal. I think mine are due for replacement now though ![]()

| Senior Member 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | I'm too tight to fork out for custom pads I nabbed some Heavy Duty Bendex pads from BNT this morning on a madness discount and am looking at a set of slotted Zonelli rotors tomorrow out in Manukau. I'm going to stick with the 242mm rotors for now, with some decent pad material they should be ample with those forking massive twin pot calipers. next track day i'll just take spare pads and swap them at lunchtime. I am running Ferodo G2's on the back those ones I found in the spare wheel well of the EG5, score! ![]() |

I just want to get it up and running to a better standard than it was before, it doesn't have to stop the world rotating when i put the brakes on ![]() Quote:
They come with thermochromatic paint around the edge which indicates how hot your brakes have got during a session. Here's the best bit though, I managed to get a trade price and scored them for $260 all up for the pair including gst. That's a pretty killer deal in my book, Trade price for DBA non-slotteds through BNT was $170 each. They will be machined up and ready to pick up tomorrow afternoon. And they have a lifetime gaurantee against manufacturers defects just like the like of brembo etc. Wait till I get them, you can take a look and see if they are what you are after. Hey they could be shit but I'm picking they'll be pretty good, it's not like they're chinese, and after having a long chat with the owner over the phone I was pretty impressed, he seemed to have his head screwed on right. Znoelli are also an agent for Mintex pads and fluid too.

He said, (and i have heard the same thing a lot before), is that cross drilling rotors are like 10 times more likely to crack under excessive heat cycling as seen in motorsport and in a rotor as small as mine, 242mm, any weight reduction would be negligible anyway. The slots are apparently more than enough to de-gass under the pad because as the rotor is small and the slots are so close together. Plus I've seen the dimpled ones and they just look pants. ![]()

Location: Auckland | you do know the legend/nsx twin pot calipers have less clamping pressure (braking force) than the BB prelude calipers right... they are only just above factory EF8/9/DA6/8 calipers in regards to clamping pressure (all other things being equal of course). the prelude calipers will also bolt straight onto your EF knuckles. Multi pot calipers have a great tendency for uneven pad wear. as for slotted rotors, youre wasting money bro. really not worth the effort. blanks are just as good (if not better). HTH.

I'm only going with the CA1's as that's what I already have, I paid a grand zero dollars for them The clamping pressure, pound per square inch, might be only marginally greater than what i had but the pad size is conciderably larger. So surely greater psi plus more frictional area has got to equate to a gain. right? I looked into EF8/9/DA6/8 calipers but was told that they needed to be run with the larger diameter EF8/9/DA6/8 rotor which inturn nessessetated the EF8/9/DA6/8 suspension upright. it opened a can of worms I couldn't be fucked with when i had a set of CA1's right infront of me ready to bolt on. They use the original EF7 rotor. All I can say is the bum dyno told me that as soon as i put these puppies on i noticed a big difference in stopping power. They were enough to impress Neil Fraser and he builds Lotus & replicas capable of standing on their front wheels under braking. As far as the pad wear goes, the set of pads I just rooted were evenly worn, not worn more from one side of the pad to the other. I know what your saying with multipots wearing unevenly but it doesn't seem to be the case here, infact the single pots on the back have worn the pads more unevenly. I dont think i'm throwing money away, $260 for a pair of slotted rotors is not big coin. Fuck it we'll see how it goes soon enough.

Location: Outside NZ: Japan | Metal kings are a reasonable pad, smoked a couple sets and discs held up good. Next upgrade is the FD 4 pots, stops 10x better than the twins.
