Was on phone but yeah with a bit of thought can certainly save a lot of money gettin from the US, heck it even used to work out cheaper at near 50centsUS to our NZdollar.
Combine shipping and perhaps use sea freight for heavy things... Car parts are not taxed heavily, but do get hit with some tax after a certain amount .

Depends if the seller declares the correct amount on the goods. Anything over about 400nzd will get stung for tax and customs crap. Been there and done that all too much over the past few months
Highly recommend Real Street Performance, execllent service and fast shipping. Have also just used Rhdjapan who were painless and quick, saving me over 200nzd on a boost controller that sells for over 1100 here, all japanese parts.
For local companies Moonlight Rcing is also very easy to deal with excellent service and prices. Shipping is also quick.
