    F22B Build *Updated with PICS*

    Hi all,

Am about the embark on a new (first) project. Really just need some input on building up and F22B. The long term plan is to run a Turbo setup, however to start (1 or 2 seasons) I will be running NA - Mainly for $$ reasons.

Would it be worth chucking some Forged internals into her now? Or would you all recommend just running on Standard internals until I add the Turbo and build it up for that?

Are there forged options out there for the F22B. Had a quick Google and could only find Arias as an option.

    Cheers,
    Paul

im not really to sure about F series motors and whats good and whats not.

one of the guys is trying to sell balance shaft removal kits on here. seems like a good investment.

basicaly slowly buy stuff for you turbo setup. keep them in ur room or garage or whateva untill you can afford to put it together.

    pistons
    rods
    turbo
    bov
    intercooler
    boost guage
    clutch kit
    etc etc

for now try and sort your ride out, things like suspension, brakes, paint, rims, interior etc etc.

hope that helps, its based on my personal experience

    Project

The car will be a full-time FWD Drag car. Won't be getting it Certed (It would cost $$$ to get done).

ur talking about turbo but u cant fork out 380 for a cert just pay the money and have it certed it will be more fun if u do

but have a look at bismoto in the states

we were able to qualify in the number one spot with a record breaking 9.97 @ 135.8mph! This secured us the following records:

    *World's Fastest Full Unibody FWD
    *Orlando Speedway P/S e.t. record
    *Orlando Speedway P/S mph record
*First confirmed 9 second all motor pass on gasoline

You can run like 8 psi on a f22b and it will run for ages on stock internals

    Engine

Fair call on the Cert side of things I guess.

If I finish and the Cert will be easy to get, then ofcourse I would get one. However, with the build I am intending I may not be able to?....We will see.

The engine is a F22B SOHC Vtec from an Accord.

    Apexi AFC

    Hi all,

Can anyone confirm for me if the Apexi VAFC I/II and so on would be Compatable with the F22B SOHC Vtec? Including the Vtec Control.

If anyone has had any experience with these on SOHC I would appreciate your input.

    A few comments..........

"Full time Drag car" --> You may want to consider a lighter body/ a different combination, as a 2.2 litre engine will lump you against engines of similar size, and the accord is the biggest shell- adding more of a weight handicap.

N/A then turbo.. These are two completely different routes, basically any work put into making it go fast N/A wise will have to be reversed when turbo-ing, adding to the cost. And I don't see a sohc vtec accord N/A breaking any speed records if its a full time drag car....

Cert is $337.50, if everthing is done right on the car there will be no worries getting one!

Theres some food for thought, I hope it doesn't come across overly negative.

    Hmm...

Well, firstly I didn't say what type of car the engine would be in.

Although i'm not going to give too much away at the moment (just because I like building suspense), it isn't going into an Accord.

When I say NA I mean NA Stock. For the first season while I get used to it and work out any Suspension, traction issues, etc.

After that I will be looking at my options (Turbo, NOS, NA).

not realy there are also preludes doing 11.3s with 230whp,
when it comes to proper DRAG CARS usualy dusnt matter wat base it is, coz most likely it wil be gutted beyound recognition to actualy be competitive

    Update

    Hi all,

Just a quick update. We have just about finished stripping everything out of the car. Then it's on to working out the best way to mount everything from the accord, including Suspension & Brakes.

I should have some pics up in the next couple of weeks and then I will reveal all

    Rear brakes

    Hey all,

We are running the Accord brakes up front, but need something light at the rear. Anyone have any lightweight(ish) brake ideas. Prefer to keep the same stud pattern as the front (4 x 114.3).

The rear brakes are going to be doing minimal work so they don't need to be big.

    Pics

    Hey guys,

Fair enough, I guess there are plenty of people that come online and start saying that they want to put x into y and how do they do it and then nothing happens.

Here are a few pics. Was hoping to keep this under wraps until it was finished, don't think I can though. I will be keeping a few things under my hat though until it is finished.

Not bad for a '74....Picked her up for $80. Was sitting not running under a carport for years. The interior is mint (Now stripped out).

As you can see the interior is now gone, it will make way for a rollcage. Which should be completed within the next month or so.

Ended up picking up a wrecked '96 Accord Vti as the donor car. I know the H22A would have been the 'better' motor, but the F22B should do a nice job.

There you have it Work has been a bit slow as most of my weekends have been busy. Should be getting stuck into the cage next week though.

I'd appreciate any comments/advise anyone can offer also.

Now will you give me some rear brake advice?
