Sure did...truck turned up as a cab chassis and was told to build a deck for it... 6weeks later the beast was born...

Got a few things in the works at the moment, may have to remind myself to take a few more photos if any one is interested?

This is what I have been making up over the past few days; for the most part, it's finished. Just need to weld in some injector bosses, which I will probably make myself after I pick up my lathe (hopefully) later this week

mild steel is cheap, the filler rods are cheap, and the guy I got the flanges from only does mild steel

All up it cost me a total of $44 (not including the throttles). If I went stainless it would be easily 3x that. And I dont have an AC welder, so Aluminium is out of the question

Should have the turbo manifold done in the next few days as well

I wouldn't bother getting an AC//DC welder, the massive difference in cost isn't really justified unless you are doing A LOT of aluminium

You would be surprised at the cost of some DC Tig machines these days, mine cost me less then my plasma cutter. You dont need a big machine either, mine goes up to 170 amps but I have never used more then 130

you mean any alloy!! Yes you can DC TIG alloy using CO2 and a lotof screwing around, but why would you bother??? A really good chinese AC/DC TIG isn't really that much $$$ these days and they do a damn good job - that's what we use (from PMT Motorsport) and it makes welds as good as anything American... and cost half as much, has as good a warranty and guarenteed spares supply if required.

When it comes to welding, if you are serious about it, spend the money up front and you won't be disappointed. It's a lot harder to do a good job with a crap tool.

If you only need to weld alloy once every few months, farm the work out and spend the money on an even better DC welder!
    Every home should have one!

    Re: Fabrication thread

A sparky that fixes our welders at work reckons that the new WeldTech Tig welders are doing well at all the workshops he goes too, they are Chinese but have been in the game for years and years and are apparently producing some good welders now, only like $1300 too. 180amp DC Tig Millers are pieces of shit, frequently being fixed, might as well not even have high frequency and lay a shit bead compared to the other welders in the workshop like the Ceboras. Have used Ceboras with no complaints and they are about half the price of the miller.
