    Well for one, USA/Europe/Russia don't quite have the same policy of demolishing or re-leasing buildings after their residents no longer require them as New Zealand does. There are entire towns in the regions that have been left as if everyone just stood up and walked out. Russia particularly, after the cold war. Opacity - Abandoned Photography and Urban Exploration, English Russia � Daily entertainment news from Russia. In English!, UK Urban Exploration Forums etc

    Sorry Chris no link, they were in a thread I found randomly the other night.

    Its Detroit, which the main city area is turning into a ghost town.
    Something like 2mil residents 20yrs ago and down to 700k a year or so ago, whole stretches of the inner city have just been abandoned as the people left.
