Accordb20a's Projects! -Accord Reassembled, Civic gets revived!

I thought i would make one of these, but beware theres a fuckload of pics AND its all over the show with multiple cars receiving updates everywhere!!

First off Ill start with listing the shit i have allready done to the accord.
I bought it a year ago for $300 from a guy that was selling it for 80 de registered so i payed him the 11 or so months of rego so i can have live plates, It was too tidy to de register. It came with its stock carb A18A engine and auto box that both worked fine, the car had 268,000kms on it.

The inside of the car smelt HARD like dog, so the brown interior that came with the car went in a fire.

I put the car on the concrete pad for a full strip down and rebuild:

Then i pulld the whole wiring loom out of the car, all of the heater boxes and waterblasted the inside (and roof lining lol) to get rid of the dog smell. Came up nice and also smells good now.

Now i planned on converting the rear drums to discs and efi swap on this car so i swapped the rear discs on and tank from a parts car (was easier to do this at the same time)

Installed the efi wiring loom from the donor car aswell as the manual stuff like pedal box clutch cable, also installed the EFI fuel lines ready for B20A Swap

Right, time for some interior, I got 1986 F1 special edition interior from a parts car i bought ages ago that im going to install, aswell as my super rare JDM digital dash and the JDM climate control (had to swap the heater boxes to install)

rear retractable seatbelts from a NZ new model!

removed the facelift bootlid and lights and went back to the pre facelift better looking tail lights and bootlid with the JDM ducktail spoiler

B20A is installed, dont have many pics just this one

and its done, All together and ready for a wof

Right, suspension.... I got some Koni yellows + King springs for the front. while i was installing them i installed some adjustable upper camber arms from a 2nd gen BA1 prelude.

Pick a part lower hutt had some rear koni reds for me, i was SO STOKED when i found them, So i put them in and also upgraded the rear swaybar with one from a 94 g20a vigor (it bolts right on and is nearly twice the size)

And my wheels, 14 from a very owned DC1 integra, the rims are straight tho and it looks pretty good.

she handles 10 times better than factory i tell you that!

    The Civic!

Right ill Start on the civic for a bit just so you guys know what im dealing with. I got this black NZ new hatch for free from croolies who wanted me to swap the motor out of it into his coupe to make it work, the swap failed due to the cat being blocked, So with this car basically i got the vtec-e motor and auto box and the wheels from the coupe which i have sold already.

Its pretty shitty, the fronts fucked in, needs 2 new guards new lights bonnet and bumper. But i reckon i can build a minter cheap car from it.

Since croolies tool the manual conversion from it out to put in his coupe i bought the manual conversion from a guy on trademe, The gearbox has a hole in its case from where the mount broke off cause it was in a crash, the gear box itself is fine so all i have to do is patch the hole up. I later went and bought the b18b from the crashed orthia aswell so i have a complete b series conversion with loom from the orthia to put in the civic....

I went to pick a part in tauranga and what did i find, a eg hatch in black. It has a smashed in left side so i couldnt take its bumper or bonnet but i bought the rh door and rf guard, parcel shelf and rf corner light.

and i bought a complete set of lights (headlights and tail lights) off a guy on trademe for $1

I havent gotten around to installing the lights yet as the fronts pretty bent and i dont know if i should straighten it or do a front cut
got the door on, looking good

I found ANOTHER set of 86 accord f1 edition seats at pick a part so i HAD to buy them, and put the min the civic along with the accord leather wrapped wheel

Yesterday did some test fitting, sat the B18B in the civic with the gearbox that has a hole in it and decided to do some wiring....
Since the b18b loom and ecu is OBD2 and the civic was OBD1 i decided to just simply mod the civic loom to take the OBD2 orthia loom

cut the wires that went to the egs drivers side engine plug and used the pigtail i got from the orthia and matched the wires and soldered them on with heatshrink

then in the passenger side floor pan i tried to make out what wires went where, i found the wires for the main relay and pgmf1 light so i jumped them into the OBD1 loom so the dash would work

and finally after 4 hours: YouTube - The civic starts!!

Disregard th high idle as the intake manifold is just bolted there with no gasket

Accord get a new exhaust system

When we went to pick a part the other day they had a New Zealand new accord in there. NZ new cars dome have cats so i bought its exhaust pipe for $13 to replace the gay one and fart can i had. I have this muffler from a parts car that i will be putting on with it.

Put it on and man does it sound good. way better than the farty fart of the old RPS fart can i had on there.
Also from pick a part i bought this B18B distributor for my OBD1 swap. The non vtec B series Dizzys fit to the B20A head but you need to put in the B18B cam cap thing that the dizzy bolts to onto the B20A as the stock one is not tall enough

heres a Pic of the engine bay with the B18B dizzy installed and the B16A2 intake installed also.

Sorry about the shitty rocker cover, Ive recently painted it blue

would the manifold swap work for preludes too, or does the gangsta lean cause clearance issues?

yea i meant the 88-91 B20a. so it is because of the angle the motor sits at? also well done with both cars

Its not the angle the motor sits on its the intake bolt up pattern is completely opposite. The b20a and b20a5 from the prelude share not too much in common only the pistons rods crank cams are the same everything else is different.

Is your engine loom a manual loom or an automatic loom? It doesnt matter what way around they go.

a18's are hard to kill lol had one with 350,000kms on it and like 2 oil changes in its life haha

the civic will get its vtax one day. LS/vtec is the long term plan for the B18 but thats a while away cause the engine will need to be completely rebuilt

It's a manual.. but my problem is that the previous owner did a bit of a DIY for the engine conversion with 2 random pieces of wire and spade connectors (my B20a lives in a EF) and it just looks like ass. Was wanting to see what yours is like to see if it's worth my time tracing down a proper loom end to go into the gearbox.

    Cheers

yeh i had a look at it when he had it. shame its the fail b20a5 145PS engine not the early gold top 160PS like the one in my car. engines are nearly completely different. so i wouldnt know how that wiring goes, But i guess that EF would go pretty hard.

    Accord Update 3/10/2009

decided tomorrow will be the big day for the swap. Im replacing my B20A with a more fresh motor that has not done 300,000kms. while the motors out i have some other goodies to go on, I was prepairing for the swap tonight by getting the parts ready and bolting the engine and gearbox together so it will be a straight out and in swap yesterday and not have to much around swapping the gearboxes and clutch/flywheel over.
The other goodies i have to go on are
BA1 prelude brakes, Larger rotors than the ones i have now and single large caliper instead of the smaller rotor twin pot calipers.

Manual steering rack, managed to locate one of these after looking pretty hard everywhere, they are pretty damn rare nowdays.

the new motor, from an automatic, had to swap a flywheel etc onto it

replacement front sub frame complete with low-km radius rod bushes (mine are totally fucked after 319000kms of abuse) and fresher LCA's also

now we wait, tomorrow ill install the goodies as for tonight i need a rest.
