    Spooner's DC2R build more Spoon

Right I thought I had better stop being such a lazy ass and start a build thread for the teg.
Will start from the begining when I got the car which is a 96 integra DC2R the only mods were the 17" 5zigen rims with shitty as king star tires haha and the cwest front bar zeal side skirts and rear lip.

I dont have to many pics of the first few things but there are definatly alot to come.

Right so my first undertaking was the sound system as the car did not have one when I purchsed it so I installed my Alpine cd head unit and my Infinity referance front components which required a custom mdf spacer to fit up. Next I started on building a custom enclosure for my 2 8" audiophile subs and a mounting system for my 2 amps.
I decided to take the leap and give fibre glassing a go was definatly a big learning curve but am really happy with how it turned out.

I started with an mdf board cut to size as the backing for the box I then mounted the sub rings in position and covered the whole thing in cloth and then brushed it over with resin to harden it. Then I started with the fibreglass once I got that sorted I started with a bit of bog and it started to look like this

Once all the prep was done I had it coverd in black suade with red stitching by Patricks auto trimmers in chch they did an awesome job only thing is the embroidery did not turn out quite as well as I had liked but still looks pretty good.

next was the amp mounts so a trip to mitre 10 got me a couple of pieces of plumbing pipe which I mounted a piece of mdf to the top of for the amps to mount to. I also made a false floor for the mounts to bolt to.
once I cut a whole in the base for the wires to come thru then I covered it in resin for the nice smooth look and then painted them metalic blue. They ended up like this kind of look like the are floating

Then all that was left was to mount the box. I wanted it mounted to the back of the back seats so I could fold the seats forward and still put stuff in the boot. So I had a few bolts welded to do the metal backing of the seat and then bolted the box from the inside with nylock nuts.
    Finished product

and a pic with the seats folded down

    Re: Spooner's DC2R build

Right so next thing was I mounted some pro+ gauges in an after market dash surround.

Next thing I managed to pick up some near new RS*R TI2000 springs for a really good price from stokes motor company. Looks alot better now its lower

Then I had Darryl (Crrupt) fix up the damage on the front bumper from a tow bar and had the bumper repainted at the same time.

It was about now when I had the car in Christchurch Autosalon on the nzhondas stand

Next on the mod list was the carbon fibre bonnet which I got from Autopassion which was not cheap as was sourched from japan but I am really happy with the quality

Then my partner put the car in 4s and rotors with her car club Evolve. was really well organised and the stand looked great and they won the award for best club cars.

Then I managed to pick up a spoon sports clutch pressure plate and light weight flywheel. Was going to install it myself but could not be bothered haha and it was getting close to simm so had a mechanic do it.
Ended up being a bit of a mission as alot of other stuff needed doing as well. Ended up doing the clutch both drive shaft seals and the selector seals on the gear box the steering rack boots one of the lower ball joints and all of the engine mounts were shot also.

That was all done then the shit kind of hit the fan as the day after I got it back it broke down and had to get it towed home. As it was only 2 days out from simm was pannicking a little. Ended up with new spark plugs a new cap and rotor and ignitor module and coil. Looked into getting msd stuff but as the engine will never be getting really serious mods I decided not to bother.

A couple of shots of the car at the track day for simm

Had an absolute blast at simm went really well accept my brakes were completly cheesed by the end of the day haha.
So that led to the purchase of these along with som motule dot5.1 brake fluid.

    Re: Spooner's DC2R build

On to the next phase of mods which are currently still underway.

Purchased a energy suspension hyperflex kit from FBI and am currently fitting it up along with nolothane rear trailing arm bushes. Am still trying to track down some urethane sway bar D bushes though as I haveing a really hard time finding some.

While its off the road I decided to have a go at delooming the engine bay and giving it a good general tidy up. Could only do so much though as I want to keep ps and aic con and do not really have the room in the boot for the battery.
The car was already fitted with an HKS earthing kit and the intake pipe and I got the msd leads when I first bought the car.
    Before

Started with the passengers side loom and moving the fuse box under the dash. Also modified the washer bottle by cutting it down and plastic welding the top back on alot lower so its not so noticable

I dont have any pics of the wiring all done and looking tidy as my camera froze and I lost all the pics
Gave the whole bay a cut and polish then sorted the wiring on the drivers side and polished up my intake and heat shield got some spoon socks on there too.

I decided to have a go at doing a custom rocker cover. Started by shaving off all the writing and giving it a good sand. Then put the high metallic silver base coat down. Then masked up the cambelt end and traced out the type r logo and painted it candy blue

Next was the final color candy red and the clear coat

After that was done I picked up some 4-1 stainless xforce headers.
    old headers

And how the engine bay is currently looking with the wiring all done minus the throttle cable which I am getting shortened to go under the intake manifold

I have also sold the standard exhaust so next will be a mugen or similar exhaust finishing the suspension bushes some front and rear camber arms and apexi vafc2 and a tune and maybe a few more braces etc.
So thats it for now will update in the new year.

Yeah they are 262mm haha but the prelude discs are 5 stud from memory and I did not want to have to change my wheels when I did the brakes otherwise I would have gone bigger.

They will be 262mm yes, Prelude, 98 spec ITR and CTR (and a few others) are 282mm up front. I have the same pads as Lee and they are good bang for buck.

Depending on how hard you go around the track those pads may not stand up to it. I had the same setup for brakes on my EG6 but over-heated the pads after a few laps so had to upgrade it

Alternative is to flick off the Mugen stuff and go to a 98 spec caliper, Prelude rotor and some sort of fancy pad Lee. I've never experienced any fade with this setup.

Thought about that but I really dont want to have to replace my wheels and I cant be arsed getting the discs re drilled. At the end of the day the car does not see the track often enough at the moment to warrent doing it. In the future I will prob seriously look at upgrading to 98 spec

Checked out my stud pattern lately?
BB1/BB4 prelude rotors are 4x114.3 and fit up to the 98 spec caliper perfectly. Its an easy conversion.

Haha i remember when he had it sitting on blocks when he sold the standard rims and couldn't decide on the new rims, looked funny having such a mint car sitting there. It was immaculate back then and still looks that way. I too will be watching.
