Ash dc2 pfl build: will i go through with this one!

Ok well the market being what it is I have decided "hell why not keep the car and make it really mint and me!"

Here is what was done to the car when i got it in august the 15th (mean birthday present for myself!)

    Engine/gearing:
    B18c2
    Intake pipe heat wrapped
    Pod filter
    Catch can
    4-2-1 stainless extractors
3 x JASMA stamped resonators with 2.5" piping into a cannon muffler
    Short shift kit
    field vtec controller
    Bilstiene shocks with adjustable damper
    Jamex lowering springs
Blue front and rear strut braces
Advanti 17" white Sa15 mags (near new rubber)
    Carbon fibre bonnet
Areal, Badges, Boot lock shaven off.
    Veilside V2 front
    Mugen sides
    Bomex rear
repainted about a year ago navy blue with a light blue pearl in it.
    Smoked side indicators
    black rear tail lights

And now the plans for the car are as follows:
    Remove the kit
Replace rear with a zeal lip
Replace front with either a mugen lip or an itr lip
Standard hood ( hating the carbon fibre)
    keeping with the sides
Replace itr interior trim (carbon stuff) with original black items
Get itr rear seats & redo stiching in blue
itr door card inners ( the black recaro stuff)
    De-loom
    decent air box and intake
    Some 15" mags
And them maybe some new cams and cam gears when i don the belts in the near future.
not hoping for a big power integra or a stunner just a really tidy one with low kms

This is how the car was when I got it:

And 2days into owning the car little problems started to pop up straight away
first was the radiator so thinking it was just brackets i went to get some new ones and found out it was the radiator so had the choice of either fixing the old one, getting a 2nd hand one or an alloy item.
After pricing them up I decided to go down the alloy road, so popped into maxumun performance (mag and turbo Hastings) and picked me up one....... only they gave me a da one not a dc so car off the road for the weekend with no radiator I got the " last one in the country" bullshit story and the dc one was here on Monday lunch time.

In it went only to find that the drain plug was fucked! and all the anitfreeze went all out the other end
really fucked off I just went and got a brass screw and jammed that sucker in and it’s been fine now.

Month down the track car went all shit again, engine light popped up started cutting out, backfiring shooting flames, idling all up the duff.
ECU said it was map sensor so replaced that and still had the problem! Thought it was missing, so out went the plugs leads rotor and distributor, car was ok for a day and then started over fuelling! I was beyond a joke at this stage and then a week with the car parked up i realised what it was...... a dodgy vtec controller! the field controller had been wired in really rangi ( twisted and taped up in places!). so was out with that and we now have a mint running car! and more kms out of a tank! like 150 more!

yea with the hole trouble thing at the start was why i wanted to sell it and get another one. but now that there all fixed i thought hell why not just do this one! so not alot to do to it. all body parts have been found just waiting on people. im scared at what paint is going to cost as it has a lite blue pearl in it . just means it might take a little longer for the body to change. have more updates to follow just need to upload pictures ( cant at the mo photobucket being usless!)

Re: Ash dc2 pfl build: will i go through with this one!

Now all this was done I decided to strip the car and try find all these little rattles I could here and the leaks, so started with the boot and found a bumper support had a crack in it so filed that up sealed it and took the loose screw out and that was the back sorted, also got new plastic caps for the rear of the interior as the old ones had shit themselves. While it was all out I decided I would dust it as well .

This going so good I decided I would do the front straight away...... bit more of a mission on this because it looked like it was coming from the firewall but found the leak in the front door. It was following a seam and drifting down towards the front, so I managed to get it sorted out and dusted now no more wet floor or sneezing for me

Next on my list of things to do was clean the rocer cover up as the old one looks like crap, so I bought one of “Demon’s” spare ones and am about to start sanding it today. After I get the meth’s out and scrub all the glue of my windows from the tints I removed.
Hers the rocer cover I got:

am thinking i will paint it blue? any ideas on what colour would be nice

Yeah get the ford blue VHT paint. It looks like the same blue as Spoon reservoir covers so matches nicely... When i have done rocker covers in the past i brush on a whole lot of paint stripper, scrub off the paint with a scrubbing brush and hose, then dry it with the air compressor, spray on a few coats of sandable primer then put on a few coats of colour.

Are you going to run with the black tailights? I have a set of OEM ones under my bed i can sell you cheap if you want. Looks like you have done a fair bit of work over the last... Day? good to see!

Edit: You should give that vtec solenoid a lick of paint, just paint it with a matt or satin black. or if you wanna be baller, you could fork out for a Skunk2 vtec solenoid cap.

fusk me that front bumper is atrocious. Looks like you have some good plans for it dude.

Dont sand the rocker cover, youll be there forever. I use spray on paint stripper. Spray it, wait 5 minutes, wash it off. Repeat for the stubborn bits and your doneburger

Re: Ash dc2 pfl build: will i go through with this one!

Ok well its been a long time since a updated (mostly because I lost all my money over Christmas ) and ive had a couple of other projects on the run i.e. building a sleep out for me and home and I decided to finally get my tattoo.

Anyway hers how the car is going:
have finally put my arse into gear and bought 90% of my body parts. Hood and front of stubs, and rear bumper zeal lip and zeal sides from 4door tegz(swapped him my carbon hood plus $100, so stoked with that ). now just need to get hold of a front lip

so after fitting them all up having a little trouble with everything being aligned perfectly so Ill give it all another go and if no success ill take it down to Ray at bodyzone and give it to him to do. Also because of the angle my exhaust is on I couldn’t fit the zeal rear lip so 4hrs or scraping and cutting my self that is finally of, and now I have decided to go down another body option and just going to have the front lip, mugen sides and OEM rear, and MABY copy EVLTEK and put holes in the rear coz I really like that
Painting wont go under way 4 a while as im waiting to sell the rear lip, bomex rear, veilside front and zeal sides to pay for that.

And as we speak I sent it into Chris at AGRE auto down Omahu rd to do the cabelt, seals , water pump and tensioners. And If I get time when he is finished ill take out the aircon as I want to stop hiding my lovely alloy radiator and show it of haha

will add picks soon just a little busy painting
