Its been along time, almost 10 years since the purchase of the car. For it seems an eternity now Ive been saving and buying parts only to sit on the shelf till one day the car can get a complete overhaul , learning how its done along the way.
You have to be a very patient man to spend all the $$$ and for it just to sit there, its a great feeling that shortly they can be installed and for this project to end.
Anyways, I'll do the history part.. heres what she started out like:
Brought from Honda Tauranga as a demo civic, the parts manager hotted it up with koni yellow's , z-speed strut and 16" roh ZS mags. This manager being Evan who as you know looks after speedfactor.
From there it went onto Mark E to get a bodykit fitted, god mark... doesnt it seem a very long time ago.. I dont know if I had seen another mugen kit at the time.
and heres what she looks like today, yea not much has changed apart from suspension, wheels.
I had a desire to build an audio system, I orginally started off back in the day with a sony 222 amp and 10" sub.. yep nothing beats bass. So I thought why go half way.. do it really nice.
My system consists of:
7" LCD
17.1" ROOF LCD
Modd'ed Xbox
300W True Sinewave Inverter
Video Amplifier
160a Alternator
Blue Obrital Battery
Kenwood headunit
Rockford
2x p3001 Amps
1x p4004 Amp
4x p210S4 10" subwoofers
2x P162S 6.5" speakers
2x P152S 5.75" speakers
2x P142C 4" speakers
Rockford 1/0 AWG power wire, Ground, speaker wire, terminals and fuses
Old pic below:
Id been planning the design for the boot, and although my photoshop skills need a brush up, the details are in my head.
So the boot hopefully will look abit like that - it was a quick job with no detail. So shall we start by stripping everything out of the car and give it a good clean.
2 packs of dynamat extreme bulk boxes later and im nearly done, heres the boot and roof but its done up to the front where I will dynamat the firewall once the welding is done for the wire tuck.
Welded up the screen support
Next I Modified the centre console for the 7" monitor.. sorry I dont have any progress pics coz I didnt have a camera but all I did was cut the console to allow the screen bracket to fit in. I taped up the front with masking tape and filled in all the gaps with a product called Duramix 4040 - its like liquid plastic that bonds to anything. Once the back is done, I just used some plastic filler to smooth it out.
Primered but I need to modify it again, because ive got no a/c now - im going to put my boost guage and turbo timer in there.
Next the Lower console.. Modified to fit the headunit and remote bass amp consoles... who needs cup holders?
Its sitting primered waiting for paint at this stage.
Got buckets in the front....
got brackets welded and certed for buckets in back. Although its alittle different I dont really like the look of it, you can sit in them fine - tall ppl fit ok but they are alittle on the high side so I'll somehow organise to get them cut.
Anyways...
Dash... I had a spare dash so I decided to practise on it.. im not keeping it, ive changed my idea again
Rip off the vinyl
Honda used closed cell foam on the dash so I can resin over it and wont melt. Cut the fiberglass mat into pieces
I sanded the foam alittle and then applied resin.
Ive changed my technique abit but I used foil and clips to make the fiberglass curve correctly.
Now to cover up vents:
Wanted to put the 4" speakers in dash:
Onto the Doors... Have been learning with CAD to get designs cut out that I couldnt with a normal router:
I'll show you more soon.
Is this post getting really long? think so. I'll just post some pictures for now and edit when I have more time:
BRAKES
D1 Spec 6 pot caliper with 302mm Rotors and Braided lines:
SUSPENSION
Ok, so I had air cylinders.. I had thought about going with a pair of decent struts but i still like the way I can raise the car if I meet a juddabar. I needed something good, apparently these 9-way damper adjustable air over strut system seems to work well , they say it performs better than coilovers.. big ask.. we will see.
1/2" vavles, 1/2" orifice
Digital LCD Controller
This is all connected to vair compressor with 3 GAL Tank + Dive tank.
GEARBOX
LSD motorsports street disc holding about 318ft/lb torque, xtreme pressure plate and 12lb flywheel.
3rd Gen OBX LSD - yea OBX sucks, but apparently they are really good for the dninja
ENGINE
Go the D16!
Bottom End:
75.5mm Wiseco Forged Pistons , should be around 8.5 Compression
Eagle H-beams
ACL Engine Bearings
Gasket Set
Head:
Supertech .5mm oversized Valves
CompCams Camshaft, titanium retainers and Springs
ARP's
SKunk2 Camgear
AIR/FUEL:
68mm Skunk2 throttlebdy
Edelbrock Intake Manifold
AEM Fuel Rail/Pressure Reg/Fuel Filter
RC 750cc Injectors
BRAIDED GOODS:
Spark's
Throttle Cable, Turbo oil feed/return
Catch Can
Mounts
Fluidyne Radiator/Samco Hoses
TURBO
Turboelements Topmount Manifold
Polished & Coated T3/T4e 57 trim .63 ar Turbo (will see how this goes and maybe upgrade to gt30r)
Tial 44m Wastegate
Greddy Blowoff
3" Downpipe
SO where am I at? Well I should have the welder coming over tomorrow to work on the engine bay and take the engine and parts down to speedfactor to get the engine built.. Im just worried at the cost![]()
Ive also got a few more parts to arrive eg Hondata! ready for tune.
Im working on the interior at the same time, ive almost got the design done.. will keep you posted.
cant type anymore.. damm its alot of work making your own thread![]()
