^ thats timely considering last night aye
(and I think I painted my gearbox before you had pics up of yours )

I was going to wait until more parts come in (waiting on a bunch still) but since Matt has posted...

    Back of the block:

    Front of the block:

Got a new camera so just mucking around:

    Painted this fella to:

Was unmasking it ans saw this, not a biggy but I still swore at it

    And the bores:

The bores were an issue, as with everything else on the car these have been done twice, I swear I'm building two cars in one.
What you see above is the handy work of Kaz @ kaz spec performance (judd, if you have is number put it up).
Thankfully Kaz was able to "fix" them and hes a bloody nice guy to boot. The first people to work on the motor bored the motor fine (thank fuck) but they didn't do the finishing bits, its almost like the let it go before it was ready, maybe a miscommunication I'm unsure.
Kaz honed the bores properly and chamfered the tops for me, I'm no expert but to me they seem perfect and the gauges agree.

The stock crank pulley has been machined and the rotating assembly has been balanced, the rods had a fraction off them as did the crank, interestingly enough only one JE had a slight skim.

Bits I'm waiting on at the moment is the suspension, brakes, a bit of carbon and depending on a meeting I have on Thursday, some new wheels . The last bit I'm the most keen on as in my view they make or break the car.

What else ahhh, I got a new dash to replace the last trimmers fuck up, I've yet to clean it up but fabric samples are on their way from the UK for it. I still plan on trimming the bastard in black suede! I just can't stand the gauge pod being screwed done to the dash and visible, just looks filthy.

Thats all I can think of at the moment, I'm forgetting something but I'll edit later.

Had a Sunday arvo free after watching little bro in law in the smash up derby over at the mount (not been to stock cars for ages, so cool) so I figured I'd attack the dash I got.

    Dirty ass junker:

    After cleaning:

Then I stripped it down & made it black:

Got stuck in to the little bits:

These I'll have to redo, the shit just would not stick to them properly

The sample from the UK came in and its a perfect match which is good, now to get some coin and find a good trimmer.

I'd like a black dash, but I'm a bit unsure of how it might look 2 years on ...
How long will that stuff hold up Hayce ? Reckon it can take a bit of punishment and still look the bizz ?

    CIVTEC: pm you

VTAKYO: Nah not a fan of the DC bits. I figure with the dash trimmed, FD2 seats, DEFI's/powerFC & some carbon panels (if I can swing it) it'll be done enough for me.

    Fabolous: cheers, bottom's up

Dropped off a couple bits I still had flying around my boot (windage tray etc) and saw the block has made it on a stand and is surrounded by lot's of boxes and bags, having a little trouble getting the last of the arp bolts as they're not commonly stocked apparently.
With a bit of luck should be able to get the damn thing back in the bay shortly!

    ^ all good brother!

The heart's starting to come together! I've not been able to get as many pic's as I would have liked but thats how it goes.

    Bit of balancing

My ps part of the pulley was fucked and not using it anyway. Looked at the likes of a fluidampr but the prices were deemed to prohibitive. So in the end the stocker was given a clean bill of health and had the ps part machined off + balanced:

ACL race bearings. Yes I'm aware of the HT threads.

    Under shot of the valves:

JE Slugs in with rods and crank

Some arp bits are on their way from Mac @ 41 so once they are here the head can be stuck on.

Unfortunately theres a slight delay, the new ITR oil pump is ex japan so theres gonna be a 10 day wait on that but other wise everything should come together alright.

Turbo decision is still "out to tender" I've pretty much decided on a GT3076r but I'm getting gently nudges for a GT3540...

    Couple more from just now:

    Haha yea...

You mean the climate control fascia right?
From memory (note a looong ass time ago!) there's a couple screws behind the panels in the top left (& right?) corners.
There's a few things actually like you have to un hook the heater cable, clock wires, heater wires etc.
Screw wise though theres not much there (at least that I can recall).

Provided all the wires are un clipped the head unit will come out with it. You cant just stick some thin flat heads down the sides? Or go to your local installer, take him 2 seconds...

Nah mate not me, the good lads at Total Performance Motorsport have taken care of the motor build for me

I would have liked to build it but it's probably a bit more than I want to risk for a first time, + the lack of time and necessary tools meant it wasn't going to happen.

agreed. i think paying the $$$ also gives you peace of mind that your not going to stuff the thousands of dollars worth of parts.
    Nice going lance
