Just came in from wiring the cabin. Nearly all done. man im blown out from wiring  Just this main pgmfi relay shit to do. Only thing I have to sort there is why the hell theres a dioide on one of the wires...
Painter came tonight and took the rear bumper and the left rear door (was rippled quite good).
Apparently he had a test run on creating some paint today... I didnt get to see it as he said it looked like dribbly poos so chucked it out. Apparently he has some paint reps on the case or something.
Now the plan as he said it was to take the car Friday. He reckons he'll have the rest of the bay welded, ground & linished, the entire bay smoothed AND the door jams and bay shot in primer.... by MONDAY!!!! I dont want to be a wet blanket but fuck me thats an awful lot of work in a very short time so Im calling bullshit -> :bs:
Heh if im wrong sweet if im right hmm sweet
Could have some more pics up tomorrow... not very interesting just wires![]()
Man, I dont like the sound of this painter very much.... 8O Hope it all turns out good for you though!! Can't wait to see the finished product!!

He still pretty adamant that itll be done by xmas.
Im getting cold feet on this colour already, it will either look real good or real assbit of hit or miss really.
If its a miss Ill probably play it safe with a nice silvery/grey/charcoal + gold pearl... probably chuck in a bit of that cyrallic (sp) mettalic as well
uh oh.. that was a colour scheme I was thinking for my EK Sedan... 8OOriginally Posted by Hayce
Car has been trailored down to the painters this morning.
Thought we may have found a colour too.
Ants was watching a hot rod show and saw a colour that apparently was spot on and even got the code (mad skillz dogg!).
Passed the info onto the painter who in turn passed it on to his mate, the rep for Dupont who then passed it on to the Auckland office's of Dupont.
Apparently the colour is a hot house hues colour (similar to our house of kolor) that is only available in the the states and to my huge dissapointment Dick sucking Dupont have no interest in bringing it in for me.
So my only options here are:
- Import the paint over myself. Possible probelms with law or freight or something here though
- Get the "reciepe" data and have it "cooked" up here
- Have the car primered bring it home and wait until I can choose a colour.
Updates... hmm frack all really. Both gaurds have been panel beaten and flared out a bit. One is primered. The front bumper has been repaired, it had a small crack in it above the intercooler but kinda underneath, wasnt really visable but yeah fixed. Bumper is primered too, no more shockers
Im heading away to whanaga for the weekend so should have some progress pics on Sunday or Monday
primer the whole thing and bring it home man
see if any other places can import the paint, or find out the full info on importing it urself.
obviously your really keen on that colour, so dont settle for a second best colour![]()

Blizzazd ricer: Yea its gone already... I DID tell him that if it come to it he can have it all beaten and primered and ill haul it home. Im not going to choose a colour because I *have* to I dont take being pressured all that well
In a way that may be best, that way I cant scratch the paint whilst putting the car back together![]()

But yeah for some reason Ive never had any of my vehicles played with in town... first time for everything though.
Got a call from the painter on the weekend, he has a colour for me to take a look at and he went to work on it over the weekend. Ill be going down there after work armed with a camera so some more pics will be up tonight.
I forget who asked about the front gaurds but Ill be sure to get a pic of them for you.
hybrid_H: No not painting the inside. Im going to be putting the entire interior back in (so you cant have that rear seat either sorry I got a stock one that you can have though  ). Would have been much easier to strip it and leave it gutted but its a street car first and foremost.
Arrived today to see some colour![]()
Its still "in development" () but its pretty cool so far
Right some pics then:
The car in the shop:
Front bumper fixed and primered:
In the infamous Hayce rear lip () as its mounted...
A shithouse flash pic of the "lipping" done on the gaurd:
Another shit house pic of the exterior flare:
If you cant tell whats been done here I guess thats good![]()
The pearl in the paint atm is a kinda rainbow fleck which shows a few colours such as yellow and green, its pretty faint but Im not having that. Painter is gonna do some more tests with some different pearls to see which is best.
Just as I was leaving they were getting ready to pop both the front and rear windshields out so more work can be doen tonight, may have some more pics tomorrow
Looking good man. 8)
looks tidy so far, that paint colour looks good to (cant really see the other pearl colours in the pics).

Im waiting for more pics of the updated paint colour too![]()

Good old no shoes
Yeha that rainbow in the paint looks a bit strange haha looks good for test colour though

Paint looks a bit red and kinda glittery in those pics, otherwise looking good tho!
Guard looks good man! I see on the inside they've cut off the tabs used to attach the plastic guard lining to, what are you going to attach them to now? Or do they not need to be held in there?!Originally Posted by Hayce
It looks good how they've sort of beaten the 'vertical' part into the shape of the lip, if you get what I mean?! Haha.
I'm getting my guards lipped tomorrow also, so just want to clarify a couple of things before I give them the go-ahead!![]()
bah who needs shoes :wink:Originally Posted by trend.whore
Yeah The multicoloured fleck is quite noticeable in the sun... hoping to have some different versions by the weekend.
Yah it is quite reddish in the sun. As with most things its knids hard to get the colour in a picture.Originally Posted by David R

Before the lips of the gaurd were rolled so the clips you mentioned couldnt be used anyway so the lads cut em off and really mushed the lip up, its a very thin edge now.
The inner gaurd liner things had the kraft knife treatment before which got rid of where they would have connected to the gaurd and they seemed to be ok.
Buuuut to be completly honest, I dont really give a raspberry root about the liner things, nothing can get into the bay & as long as the part where the liner bolts up to the bit behind the wheel is intact nothing should be able to flick up onto the door/gaurd... well thats the theory anyway.
And yep they took the top of the flat crease in the gaurd and "flared" the lower portion out to give me a bit more girth lol. Thankfully they did this with the front bumper and left a bit of the flat edge to line up with the bumpers flat edge. I wasnt really sold on it when it was primered... looks much better painted.
Going down today, will take a pic of the gaurd on the car as per Wongs orders![]()
Ah I see cheers dude! They've done a bloody nice job, it actually looks factory to me, will give you heaps of clearance I'd say... we can all do with a little more 'girth' at the end of the day!![]()
True what you say about your inner guard linings, I just want to stop stones and crap from flicking up into my engine bay! I'll just cut it up and not worry about attaching it to the guard.
The other day I'm pretty sure a stone managed to work it's way into the heater system and it ended up shooting out one of the air vent's and wacking me in the face.... that was the last straw! 8O
Looking great man that colour is cool
Im suprised you left the advans on the car while its at the shop though, not the sort of wheel you want overspray on, damaged etc. Unless of course your changing the colour of them too. If you need steelies give me a yell![]()
