Any of those wheels look mint
Phil, are you sure the lip doesnt change with going to the 8" wide?
My bro has xd9's with 8" front and 9" rear, and im sure the lip isnt the same...

according to work wheels catalog... the lip size is

    37mm for 7.5/8.0 JJ
    45mm for 9.0JJ
    and 73mm for 10JJ

    that's for 18" wheels

not that they will fit on ek... but for the s2k... if i was to go with XD9... i would go with 17x9.5 +44 giving 68mm lip...

    check it

lance.. if you wanted a big lip... you could also look at 17x8.5 +42 which gives you 46mm lip... this is similar outside offset to the 18x8.0 +35JJ but you will have 13mm less clearance on the inside....

as a comparison that 18x9 set u tried on has 45mm lip...

ugh Im getting confused... so you're saying 18 x 7.5/8.0 JJ +35 wont fit?

Ideally I'd like the biggest lip I can get without having the wheels smack either inner or outer guards.

Can you outline the most likely "config" for that. I though it would've been 18x7.5 or 8 (if it doesn't effect the lip 7.5 would be better) +35 giving 37mm of lip which is only 8mm less than in the pics.

    Cheers Charbon Sty

ok... let me try to clear this up for you...

the lip size for 18x7.5 and 18x8.0 for xd9s DOES NOT change... not even with different offsets....

    they are ALL 37mm

so... if you think 7.5 fits better then go with that....

    7.5 has +53, +48 or +38 offsets....
    8.0 has +45, +35 or +28 offsets....

    so your choice is therefore:

    option A: 18x7.5 +38 (37mm lip)
    option B: 18x8.0 +35 (37mm lip)

my idea was if you wanted max lip.. then the 17" wheels actually gives you more lip for the width and offset....

    for example...
    option C: 17x7.5 +32 (39mm lip)
    option D: 17x8.5 +42 (46mm lip)

from my calculations, the outside clearance for option D is same as option B .... actually B extends out a further 1mm...

the problem with option D is you will need 13mm more clearance on the inside.... as opposed to B...

Ah ok thanks bro thats a little clearer.

Hmm Inside clearance has been tight on the RG's I should have had a decent look at their offset whilst they were off

give me the full size and offset of your RG and i can work out how much clearance you will need inside, and how much it will extend out from the rg on the outside...

well.... i think you'll be pushing it a bit even trying to fit 8 +35... not to mention 8+28...

as a guide, it's gonna retract in by 11mm on the outside as compared to the set of 9+30 you tried on....

You mean the outer edge will be sucked into the guard by 11mm compared to the 9"s? Wouldn't that be about the right to sit it flush with the guard, would just come down to inside clearance against the chassis right?

remember you were running stupidly undrivable camber???

if you want 18s, then the 18x8.0 +35 would retract in by 18mm... which is a better setup if you ask me...

but if you want lip.. then 17x8.5 +42 assuming it would clear the inside (which i think it should...) it would retract in by 21mm, but you will need 9mm more clearance on the inside....

to be honest, it's gonna make more sense to you if you give me the current offset and size of the RG ... then i can tell you how much each option will need inside clearance, and how much it will extend out by....

The camber doesn't really shift the top edge of the tyre in towards the chassis all that much. The rears use to have a fair bit of camber as it was (the tyre wear is pretty good evidence of this!)

Right-o Ill rip the RG's off tonight and stick it on steel tim tams tonight.
