    Matt's DA6 Turbo Build (56k Killah) ZOMG exhaust 8==D

    Model: '91 DA6 Integra XSi
    Engine: B16A(2)
    Trans: YS1 (non LSD)
    Body Colour: Black

Background: Well I bought this DA6 (my 3rd 8O ) about a year ago now from a forum member who shall remain nameless (oh yeah it's LSD mang, never been thrashed blah blah blah). It was a bit worse for wear with a cracked passenger headlight and dented bonnet, usual car park dings etc. Decided to throw on a cheap turbo kit and have a bit of fun, was running a top mount mani, T3 .42 .48 skyline turbo, VR4 cooler, EVO 510cc injectors etc etc. Car was running fine on 4-5psi boost but the clutch started giving up the ghost, so I thought stuff it, bring on the ground up build!

I fitted an Exedy HD clutch cover and organic plate a few months back and sold off all my old turbo bits to various members (still have a 2.5" mandrel bent DA6 exhaust if anyone needs one!). So we are now up to speed.

    Planned mods:
~Tidy engine bay wiring (not full tuck though)
    ~Manual steering rack conversion
~Have a MANZ approved half cage fitted
~Full respray in metallic black (exact mix yet to be decided)
    ~Fit bucket seats and harnesses
    ~Install turbo gear
~Install coilover suspension all round (brand undecided)
~Replace trailing arm bushes + any other worn bushes

    Goals:
The aim is to have a fun, competitive circuit/drag car which can still be driven on the road regularly. It won't be a daily drive but will hopefully still get a lot of use.

    Progress thus far:
Basically nothing, the car is fully stripped at the moment and has just been returned from the fabricator with the cage. Will post up pics of the cage later on when I get a chance. Have removed most of the sound deadening but still a bit to do. Have also started on the wiring tidy up but quite a bit to do.

"Enough of this typing shit" I hear you say, so here is the important part. Pics!

    The beast
Wheel's are just roll arounds, have some nice 15's with a polished lip to go on eventually.

    Engine bay
As you can see there is a fair bit of rewiring to do!

    Turbo
Details:50 A/R intake with 3” inlet diameter and 2” outlet
    .63 5 bolt standard exhaust

    57 compressor wheel trim
    .60 A/R compressor
    .63 A/R turbine
    57 trim

    Turbine wheel:
    Exducer: 2.48”
    Mayor: 2.89”
    Compressor wheel:
    Exducer: 2.07”
    Mayor: 2.36”

    Tial 38mm wastegate & 50mm BOV

Alloy radiator and Tube&Fin Intercooler (Thanks FBI  )

Ramhorn Mani (ex USA, thanks WATUGT  )

Thats it for now, I have a whole lot more photo's to post up and have no doubt forgotten heaps of parts I've got lying round as well. Will try to keep you all regularly updated!

So it's real... You've been talking about this for ages but I'd never seen it. It will deffinately be a beast.

Oh by the way it looks like you've got a bit of an oil leak under the car

Uploaded a few more pics tonight, here are a few more of the parts I have collected:
Manual steering rack from RSi DA6
C-Pillar Brace (should still be able to run it with the cage)
New Upper Arms for front suspension (the current balljoints are fuxt)
Spare sump which needs tapping (thanks CRRUPT :thumbsup
Apexi Multifunction turbo timer (also batt voltage, crap A/F meter etc)
Sandwich plate for turbo oil feed

Random pic of me throwin out the shocker (was removing sound deadening at the time)

I'm not real happy with how the pics of the cage came out (I need good ones for the MANZ cert) so will take some more this weekend when I get a chance. Cage was fab'd by Shane@STR in Henderson. Cannot recommend this man highly enough, top class work (he has one of Croydon's cars in at the moment for a full cage), quoted the best price out of the places I rang and it was done in a reasonable time frame. Definitely give him a call if you looking at getting one done.

Here's a couple teasers, better ones after the weekend.

looks good so far, the sump are you going to tap it, or get a weld on -8 (or whatever size) fitting and weld it on? A fitting is much easier and tidier if thats what your after.

Will do a weld on fitting and use steel braided hose for the return. Used a push lock fitting on my last one with high temp rubber hose and it was shit. Got hookups on all my fittings and braided hose this time so no reason not to 8)

if the turbo is BB (which i dont think it is?) you dont need that big, i run a -8 oil drain and it is fine.

Got a bit more work done or the car today although you wouldn't really notice it, just redoing wiring when and where possible. Have also welded and bogged the holes from the old spoiler and electric areial. I'll make a concerted effort to go buy some fine filler, sand paper and stuff so I can start on the body work.

On a side note anyone here use a spray gun or know someone who can? Looking for someone to shoot it for me in&out, I will do 99% of the prep work, let me know!

The only pics I got a for the cage's MANZ cert, so here they are:

    Up on blocks ops:

8O yup those rear blocks should be east west under the rear sill not north south. Just a point of health and safety
