how'd you get on
how'd you get on
A few little things to add.
I got my new bolts for the steering wheel.
I also moved the battery to just behind the drivers seat and fitted my new clamp. the battery wasn't very stable in the old spot.
The positive cable was also shortened.
I also got onto cleaning up the sound deadening residue with some meths and then tried turps as I thought it might work better.
Looks a lot better now I think, I will be painting it black sometime soon too.

good shit lance keep at it!

What gauge is that positive wire- if it's 4GA you will probably get around 0.7-1v of voltage drop through the wire alone when cranking. Would recommend 2GA minimum, 0-1GA would be better still
Can't see if you are running a circuit breaker at the battery either? I would get a 100A to 250A one just to be safe, would hate to see someone's pride and joy go up in flames because of an electrical short.
Edit: Here's the one we used on a mates car, I thought it would be a little low but it starts an H22a fine with it. This one I have which is more ideal, but the switches on these ones are a bit "sticky"/on the piss which seems to be a common complaint when I talked to someone at Jaycar.

I used kero while the metal was still warm from the heatgun, worked like a dream. Guess it's another of those dries clear and leaves no residue spirits
Looking good though, you've sparked a resurgence of motivation for me to clean the rest out of mine!
Joule, I've got (and have run for the last 7+ years) 4g cable, it's excessively long (~7m?) and cranks fine every time now that I've got a more suitable small battery that doesn't get killed by my alarm.
DA's FTW!

Hmmm, I've never heard of those circuit breakers before, I will talk to my mates dad who is an auto electrician of over 20 years about it.
I was recommended 4 gauge wire for the positive, thats what most battery relocation kits come with.

Bit of an update today.
At the last Auckland meet I organised with forum member Zombine to purchase a couple of parts.
I picked up these:
A B18c water pump and cambelt tensioner
There was also someone selling stickers there so I picked these up:
HeheI like stickers!
I picked up a new whale penis intake as the one on the car had been cut where it connects to the throttle body and therefore had to be taped on.
The new one also has 2 holes in it so I can run the factory PCV setup as well as the IAT sensor.
The car has been idling very high for quite a while so I made a post in tech-help and got some helpful info.
I was recommended to clean my IACV, so I took it off and it was very dirty.
So I gave it a clean with petrol and degreaser:
Doing this didn't help the idle but at least it's not terribly dirty any more.
I saw on an old thread to check if the throttle is completely closed at idle.
I removed the intake and sure enough the throttle was open ever so slightly.
When I turned the car off it was still open an there was no give in the throttle cable what so ever. I loosened it a very tiny amount and the idle is now better, but the revs still shoot up to around 1500 rpm when the car is rolling with the clutch in, hmmmm.
Someone on my post said it could be because of air in my coolant. I undid the bleed nipple to bleed the coolant and when I tightened the bolt back up again the part in threads into snapped off!
I picked up a replacement from Strong's and chucked that on sealing it on with silicon based high temp gasket maker.
I left it for 24 hours to dry, topped up the coolant and fired it up to check for leaks, none
New Vs. Old:
I also decided to give the rear interior a quick spray, a lot of people have told me it makes it look a lot tidier
It's just a rough job but it looks better than how it did before:
(Sorry for the poor photo, my camera's battery is almost dead)
This also arrived today from Fortyone Automotive:
I've got a few other bits on their way too.
I'm picking something very exciting up tonight (hopefully)
I will update this thread as soon as I've got it

I'm quite excited about this update
I picked this up last night:
It's an EG4 rolling body.
It has 96 spec ITR hubs and wheels, glass headlights and a few other bits and pieces.
Today was a very busy day for me so I will post some more photos up tomorrow.
The plan is to transfer most things from the DA to this and sell the DA off cheap. This means that the new motor will be going into this obviously.
More details and pics to come tomorrow

Waits for 'My even slower EG4 build thread' ...
I've got a few more details on the EG4
Make: HONDA
Model: CIVIC
Year: 1992
Submodel: VTI
KM's: 249,000 ( Highish I know, but I'm not too worried. Still less than the DA)
Mod list at purchase time:
Exhaust
ITR hub swap
ITR 96 spec wheels
Glass headlights
Amber indicators
ITR master cylinder
ITR short shifter
De-loomed bay
Sound deadening removed
Lowering springs
Steering wheel
EVo 8 metallic blue engine bay
Also included:
ITR front sway bar
A better full exhaust than what's currently on the car
I have so far put my Type R imitation gear knob onto it
More Pics:
Bits and pieces:
Nothing behind the dash. Heater is definitely going back in
Saw this at Strong's when I was there the other day so I decided to check if it was still there today, as you can see it was.
The guy at the counter told me it's a genuine Nardi steering wheel but I'm not sure.
It has red stitching.
Not sure what I think of the red centre but I can always just paint it.
Also started pulling bits off the Integra and putting the interior all back in today.

Needs black interior! But otherwise a good base.
Yeah sand that red centre down and give it a few coats of matte/satin black, would look heaps sweeter. Also, while you're at it, give the civic a good cut and polish to give it a good shine. Other than that![]()
mean dude. cant wait to see the civ rolling. be sad to see your teg go though![]()
Yes I drive a Honda, and Im proud of it
Today I went and picked up some interior pieces from Duane (IVTECU) I got a whole lot of stuff I didn't have which was great.
I also got NZDM side panels, I have heard you can run ITR or CTR rear seats with these which will be great!
Me and Duane had a massive talk about his old EG and a few other things which helped me learn a few things about the car which was great.
I also found out that the prelude callipers I got a while back being from a BB1 are 262 and will bolt straight up to my current brake rotors.
My rotors are brand new so with some decent pads I'll be all set for the braking side of things.
Put these on the civic today:
All my bits and pieces:
JDM vs. NZDM panels:
JDM:
NZDM:
Gave the NZDM panels a hose and a wipe off ready to put in tomorrow. Also put the plastic speaker bracket in.
I have now taken everything off the DA6 I'm planning on keeping and put all the interior back into the car.
I put the lowering springs that I purchased the Integra with back in and put the lowering springs from the front of the EG into the DA front shocks and the car is now a nice even drop.
from the DA I kept:
D2 adjustable suspension
C pillar bar
rear lower brace
ITR style gear knob
fire extinguisher
Whale penis intake
10.5mm H/T leads
Spark plug cover
frame-less wiper blades
Fixed back seat
Harness
And of course most of all, the memories I've had with the car
about it for today.

wow dude. already cracking with the EG. mint bro. so keen to see it sometime. We need a photoshoot dude before your teg goes. Should we do something this saturday?
Yes I drive a Honda, and Im proud of it
The day before yesterday I cleaned up the new interior and chucked that in:
Seat belts were being a pain in the ass so I had to unbolt them to get the panel through and then bolt them up again before clipping everything back up.
Once they were in I noticed this:
There is nothing in there to bolt the little bracket for the seat onto
I've got some ITR rear seats on the way so I will wait and see how this affects them going in.
Today I put the EG front shocks and lowering springs into the DA. I couldn't use the old DA factory shocks because I had to smash the brake line bracket off for my D2's and when I put them in the lower fork slid quite far up with just a small drive around the block.
I also fitted the front D2's into the EG using the DA front forks. The DA front forks are quite a lot meatier than the EG ones, I did'nt manage to get a photo because it was starting to rain and we needed to get it all done before it got really heavy.
I adjusted the shocks so they were quite high so it would be easy for us to get the EG on and off the car dolly without damaging the front bumper.
Today I also gave the EG its first wash since I've owned it
