That's a rather crude way of 'tuning' by only pulling the base timing at the dizzy. You will be removing timing from your entire ignition map by how many degrees you retard the dizzy. You'd lose some part throttle responsiveness and fuel efficiency. If you are building your car for daily driverability you'd want to make sure you can fine tune part throttle ignition and fueling. Those are the areas in the maps you'll be in daily driving.

With the CTR pistons and milled head, I'd be checking your valve to piston clearances like Gudgen has mentioned (even with your initial ITR cam setup). There may not be any clearance for more agressive cams in your stage 2 plans.

I'm not an expert but I don't see how adding more fuel in will solve the problem of the air and fuel not atomizing to it's potential.

Although I would have personally taken another route with some of the things I would have done to build the motor I am looking forward to seeing what results your build will bring.

And some good tips too like the water pipe wrapping. I might just have to do that sometime

    Re: Fadi's project :: EK4 pocket rocket :: porting before/after pics

Yeah, well, that's my idea of what's gonna happen anyway... The tuning is not in my hands, I'm not the expert, haha... They'll sort something out for me...

As for inspecting for valve to piston clearance, that goes without saying...

Yeah we'll see the results for this one... I haven't for 4-1 headers so I think that means I'll be missing out on a few kW at the high rpm, but it's ok, I'm not trying to sell the car with horsepower. As they say "power sells cars, torque wins races!"

    Anyway, an update...

I took out a whole bunch to unnecessaries... lol (all working, except cd changer- jammed)
    - Gathers 6 disc CD changer - jammed
    - Gathers broadcast media tuner
    - Kenwood 3 disc MD player + remote
    - Kenwood controller FM stereo modulator
    - HONDA full logic control cassette deck (lol JDM y0!)
Whoever wants these to build a JDM spec civic, you can have'em all for FREE! NZH special.

I wouldnt put heat wrap that close to the block where it will get soaked in oil and crap and then act as a wick/ massive fire risk. This is from 1st hand experience.
    Its completely unnecessary.

Hmmm.. re-built engine, brand new seals from HONDA. I'm pretty confident the oil will stay where it belongs, INSIDE the engine The oil filter is below the heat wrapped water pipe so if there are any drips during an oil change, gravity will be on my side Where else would oil come from???

Meh... each to their own I guess

I believe in the Honda product as much as the biggest fans of it on here. What I don't believe in are the end-users to install things probably. That was a general statement, not specifically aimed at you.

Lol true... yeah end-users are unpredictable sometimes.. haha

Well, it's been a while, and nothing has been happening due to a whole bunch of stuff getting in the way along with funding...

Just bought a 2.5" catback exhaust for the setup as a 2.25" just wouldn't cut it...

This is the system, basically I'm cutting the N1 muffler off the rear and putting a FlowMaster (Made in USA) for a nice quiet tone with a loud VTEC So if anyone wants the muffler (with the silencer), make me an offer...

Also love the idea of wrapping intake pipe, Will be doing this when i put new head on.

As for oil and shit on pipe, there shouldnt be any oil there? Unless your rough as guts building a motor you wont get an oil leak at that point.

    Thanks for sharing that

sweeeeeet, yep you get the drift with the heat wrap... If anyone's gonna be rough, they shouldn't bother doing the heat wrap stuff....... In saying that, if they're gonna be rough, shouldn't even do an engine build that requires precision work... lol

    Update 27/04..

SPOON spoiler (fibreglass) has arrived!!! [pic will be up when I can]

Car goes into the painters on Monday for 2 weeks of cosmetic surgery...
